Less battery, but this G50 looks nice. 9700M GT has the DDR3 vs the 9600M GT DDR2. What do you all think? Probably too late to change my order, but I am curious....

In my humble opinion, there is almost no gain with the G50V-A1 to the NP2096. That's just my opinion based on the specs, but no bench scores, since there aren't any for those GPUs yet.
Looks aren't everything and I think your 2096 can keep up the G50V-A1 without even breaking a sweat. I don't know how much difference there is between DDR2 and DDR3 and I doubt if anyone could even detect it unless it was massive.

I always got the impression that DDR 3 was supposed to be way better than DDR 2. But in your opinion, the difference would be negligible?
I remember looking at some of the comparisons, but it has been awhile.
I agree with you regarding the looks. Sure it is nice to look nicer, but clearly the inside is what matters most.

Actually, I said I don't know how much difference there is between DDR2 and DDR3 and I doubt if anyone could even detect it unless it was massive. What that means is that I don't know for certain and it would have to be massive to detect a difference. Like going from a computer with a 1.4GHZ CPU and 1GB of ram with an intergrated video card to a computer with a 2.6GHZ CPU and 2 GB of RAM and a dedicated video card with 512MB of vram. You will notice that difference. Unlike have two similar computers, one with a 2.24GHz CPU and the other with a 2.4GHz CPU..you would not notice anything. (Too small to detect).

I could only understand about 30% of those, but what I gather is that, one day, DDR3 will be worth it, but not today. Is that about right? I appreciate you linking the articles.
