Ok I might say that now I am joining the few unsatisfied customers of Xotic PC. I know many will say that ETAs are not Xotic PC responsibility and this is true, but not announcing the correct ETAs and updating them is entirely theirs.

I ordered my 5796 on 21st of July. I ordered one ETA product - the GeForce 9800M GTX. When I ordered it it said - ETA Early August. The same was displayed on Sager's official website. Around the beginning of August Sager's website displayed ETA for the card to be August 22 - no parallel change on Xotic PC's website. A few days ago Sager's site changed once more to End of August - again no similar change on Xotic PC - it still sold the 9800M GTX as "Early August". A day or two after Sager changed the ETA to End of August, Xotic PC changed theirs to "Mid to End August." I can say that the lack of updating can be very misleading when taking decisions especially if you need to receive the product before a specific date. Nevertheless, no matter how irritating that was I said to myself - I guess I will not get the 9800M GTX since I need the laptop before September 14. I send an e-mail to Xotic PC to tell them to down grade to 9800M GT and refund the difference. My order went into Phase 2 early Monday (a few hours ago) and all was good. Wrong.

What really got me was the next e-mail that I received -

Good morning,

We apologize to inform you that the Blue Ray media drive on your order is currently on back order. There is not ETA for this item. Please let us know if you would like to make any further adjustments to your order.

Thanks
Xotic PC

There is no indication anywhere on Xotic PC's website mentioning an unavailability of the Blue Ray recorder. There has never been an ETA for it. I immediately checked Sager's website - ETA: End of August. The Blue Ray is an essential component for me. I feel lied upon since I am forced to wait until the end of August, not able to be sure whether I will receive my laptop in time. Moreover, I am now convinced that I can not rely on Xotic PC to keep me informed on the availability dates of the components. As a whole Xotic PC lost credibility in my eyes. If my laptop does not start being build around the 30th of August I will cancel the whole order and demand immediate refund of my 3258$.

I am sorry to hear that you are not completely satisfied. Please try to understand that parts can go into back order with little or no notice from Sager on the delay. They may notify us at the last minute to which we update our customers as soon as possible. We were in the middle of a move last week which is likely the reason web updated might be a day or two behind.

A public forum is not the best place or discuss order questions. These are better served through Email or Telephone. Stating we are being deceitful or purposely lied to is not a correct statement. We make every attempt to update customers and our website as we get the updated information. :)

We are always working aggressively to get back ordered items in ASAP. :)

Well I think the forums are the best place to discuss this issue since, in my opinion, the information was indeed misleading (if you don't like deceitful) and people should be aware of that. If you have produced even a singe laptop with the Blue-Ray recorder and then ran out of drives - that would have been fine. But since you have not produced any laptops of the 5796 series with that recorder - it can not be on back-order - you have never had it in the first place. And if you do not have it, and have not asked when will you have it - how can you sell it as available?

I can only thank you for acknowledging the ETA for the Blue-Ray recorder on the customization page of the 5796, today 08/11/08.

My problem now is that I want the Blue-Ray recorder very much, but I do not want the 9800M GTX so much. But if I have to wait until the end of August for both - I will get them both. Nevertheless, since time is a serious issue in my case if the Blue-Ray becomes available before the video card - I would like my laptop to begin building. Is there any useful and correct information that Xotic PC can provide me with or should I always call Sager for product availability? Thank you.

When we moved to the 5796 from the 5793 there were shortages on the SATA Blue Ray Drives where it was available in PATA version.

We try to update as soon as we are able. Please try to understand we have been moving to a new location over the past week. Website updates can be a little behind with constant changes and multiple items involved in the machine, on top of a relocation.

As of now all I wana know is do you have the the GeForce 9800M GTX in stock, If not if I change my order to the lessor video card will my unit be sent to production now?
Im in Iraq, Im not rich and it took me 2 years since my last purchase to order another Sager system (Budget), So if I opt for the older video cards will my unit go into production now???

Order#6632

It is not in stock - the ETA (that has changed 3 times on Sager's website) is now "End of August".
