So I'm looking at ordering a new laptop(Sager NP2096) and I'm a little confused with the custom finishes.

Do i have this right?

The custom skin is any picture/logo/(colors?) that goes on the lid of the laptop(side A when looking at their diagram) and its like a plastic coating that could be peeled off? how does this help anti-theft if they could just take it off.

The painting is actually a painting, that cannot be taken off(unless painted over i guess?)

They also say:

"Please note that we cannot duplicate copyrighted logos without the owner's permission, and no proceeds are charged on the inclusion of a logo."

So how can i tell if a image i have picked is copyrighted?

Thanks in advance :)

First, the skin is a little harder to take off than it sounds. It can be taken off, but you would need to use a heat gun or other methods. Once it's off, it can not be re-applied. Justin or someone at XoticPC can enlighten you to the details on this.
The anti-theft bit works like this: How many thieves are going to take the risk of hanging onto a stolen article such as a laptop long enough to go through the trouble of changing it. They usually want to dump stolen articles with in hours. Having a unique design such as on a skin or paint job does two things in regards to this. 1) No fence in their right mind is going to receive it to try to sell it. 2) If someone attampts to run off with it in broad daylight in front of people, it will be kind of hard to miss. A third point is how easy it would make the police report.:)

As for copyrighted images. If you choose one of the images on the XoticPC sight your safe. You could also do your own and you should be safe. You can even use anything in a photobucket type sight or google images and such and be ok. The time you would not be ok perhaps is if you tried to use an image from a website that was not freely given or some other manufacture or branded emblem or pic or what have you.
Rule of thumb: if its "freely provided", you should be ok. Generally, images on websites are copyrighted and not freely provided to you.
