I placed an order for a Sager 5796 with the nvidia 9800M GTX several weeks ago. I understand that there's a wait for that chip to become available but I've been reading all over the net about possible g92 (9800m series) GPU's failing. Is this true? and will it further delay the shipment of the laptop. I understand it's internet rumors but based on what I have read it looks like almost all nvidia GPU's are affected to include older models like the 7800 series. I had a SAGER 9750 with a M7800 GTX that at times failed to POST. I discovered that sometimes when I just touched the GPU or tapped hard on the area were it was located it would work for a short time but then die when it got too hot. Could this be a related issue?

This issue/question was brought up earlier on the forums... but no one quite knows the details. We will have to wait and see I suppose.

As far as I have read (I've seen a few articles about it) it looks like only the 8800 and up GPUs are affected. Of course, I don't know the whole of the story yet. I have an 8600 in my new lappy, so I am hoping I should be safe.
If the 9800M GT is defective, can we get extended part warranty? Perhaps from Clevos or Sager?

I hope that my new laptop arrives it will not show any symptoms, I'm deployed overseas right now and will be here for some time. I would really suck to have a brand new laptop fail me out here.

Regardless there is a 1 year warranty on all parts. If this problem from what i've read into it is as large of a problem as to what people are saying, Nvidia will be obligated to cover it or they risk facing lawsuits. They have acknowlegded there's a problem so they are admitting guilt which is always a good thing for (us) the consumer.

Is it bad if my 9600 gt is heating up to low 90s C during gaming? O_O
