i just 3dmarked my new 2096 /.and it scored much lower than i expected, are there driver issues maybe?
Heres my setup:
2.53 ghz 6mb l2
2gb ddr2 800mhz
nvidia 9600m gt 512 ddr2

it only scored a 3665, and my friend who has a year old dell xps scored 4400. 2.4 core 2 duo 3gb ddr2
nvidia 8600m gt.
if you have any advice for improving performance, it would be greatly appreciated.

well.. make sure you both are doing the testing on same settings.. are you two using the same Operating system? same version of directx.. newest graphics driver etc..

and I'm pretty sure XPS's 8600m GT is DDR3 compare to your 9600m GT DDR2.. which makes a huge difference.

other than that.. 4400 for an xps (assuming m1530) is pretty normal.

Screen resolution of the test will screw up your results. Make sure you are both at the same resolution under the test settings.

Check the Power Profile you are using on your laptop. If it is on a higher evergy savings mode it will affect your benchmarks. Always benchmark your laptops with the AC adapter pluged in and with your Power Usage Profile on Performance.
