In the parts list the G53SX is listed.

The G53SX may appear for sale before the G74SX?

I'm pretty interested in this laptop. Any idea when it comes out, and what it will cost?

No idea on availability date but in the G74 thread a European site I linked to had that model for a June 15th???? release.

The most interesting thing I find about this G53SX link is the GTX560M with 2GB GDDR5.In the G74 thread(post #79) the GTX560M is with 3GB of GDDR5.

At CeBIT 2011 the G74SX prototype that was shown had a GTX560M with only 1GB of GDDR5.

The funny thing is, Xotic has 2 of the Lambo machines on their site with 3gig 460's in it. Under specs it shows the 1.5gig but when you customize it shows 3gig. Wonder why that is?

It happens many times. I would trust the customization page.

Most of the other webistes are posting the VX7-A1 with 3gb so that is probably correct. I am wondering why I never looked at this machine before...

I didn't start looking until a few days ago. In the past what kept me away was the high price point and inferior specs. Both of those seem to have been addressed.

Still not sold on it but it is eye catching.

The orange is pretty disgusting, but yeah it is eye catching.

I was looking at buying another laptop, but the g53sx will have optimus, correct? If you can get a config in the $1300 range, I might hold off. I would like to buy sometime before August, but otherwise I'm not in a hurry. Battery life isn't super important, but would be real nice to have at least 3 hours.

Maybe the 3gig means its an SLI version. That would make sense, its double the normal.

Likely the 1.5GB is listed because that was the original planned spec. But when came to actual production the 3GB was what went in. For what reason? Availability cost? Things change from original spec to production all the time. Updating the front page was overlooked.;)

Thanks SmogHog that MSI slipped past my radar. Yeah, seeing as the g53sx wont be out till July that seems like a VERY close alternative I might have to consider... though I've been hearing all those great things about Asus... that and all the pwetty lights that come with the G series. :p

I'm quite disappointed in their decision to use, more or less, the same chassis on this updated G notebook model as they did in the generation antecedent. There need to be more gaming computers without all the external, oft embarrassing, bravado. It doesn't need to be boring, I just wish it were more refined to the eye.

The hard plastic is also another tired and rather insipid design decision. If they are bent on using plastic then I wish they would offer a rubberized upgrade. One of my favorite laptops I own is an ASUS that has a polished metal finish that's nearly 6 years old. Despite the age of said laptop, I still receive compliments and it has hardly scratched over years of daily use and carrying.

Aesthetic complaints aside, I'm interested to see how the GTX 560M (2 GB) comes out on the performance upgrade end. The pricing for the G53X seems rather fair to me, nearly on par with the new MSI price-to-performance ratio. One major consideration for me, in regards to MSI vs. ASUS, is that ASUS tends to use higher quality LCD screens.

I'm interested to see what technological rebuttal sager has in store for these MSI and ASUS products.

Will the G53SX include Optimus I hope?

It'd be a shame if not. It's the biggest new feature everyone's excited about this graphics card for. High end features + battery saving Optimus finally.

I've seen other laptops on your site showing clearly that they had Optimus in both the tech specs and overview, but not seeing it on this one.

So far MSI,Alienware and Toshiba are the only makers that have models coming with the GTX560M and Optimus.

Sadly Asus and Sager have not revealed any models featuring the GTX560M with Optimus.
