Heya, I recently bought two Sager NP8150-S1s here and paid ~$400US each for economy shipping to New Zealand. After receiving them, the USPS sticker on the box indicated that the shipping was actually $128.85 each. Checking out several calculators on various US international shipping sites, the average price is between $100-$200US for the same speed service, with the boxes combined.

Just wondering whether I'm being overcharged here, or if the rest of the money's gone to "admin/insurance", because the invoice clearly stated "Delivery" for my ~$800 payment.

Thanks.

the folks at xotic are good people, ild have to lean towards insurance and fees over just a raw overcharge. a representative should be able to get you a full break down of what the shipping charges were spent on.

There are taxes in there too I believe. Whenever a high value item like that goes through customs you have to pay duties and taxes at the time of delivery and Xotic has no way of knowing what they will be.

Yep, taxes could play a role in it. UPS usually charges those initially when we create a shipping label for them. Plus, our international shipping also includes much better packaging than normal since UPS is a huge stickler about that and we like to take extra time for international orders, and to cover the insurance for insuring both of those laptops (which is a very pretty penny, mind you). Especially since we go through an insurance company that works the best on getting claims made and getting money back when a package is lost.

Feel free to contact me if you have any further questions about the shipping charges. :)
