You can start with the thread on NBR for some information.

http://forum.notebookreview.com/sager-clevo/582409-x7200-successor-mobo-computex-2011-a-3.html

Desktop X79 motherboards were shown about 10 days ago at COMPUTEX in Taiwan. They're expected to start appearing on retailer's shelves sometime in August and the Sandy Bridge-E CPUs in September.

http://www.behardware.com/news/11576/computex-all-the-x79-motherboards.html

I don't know when PCI-e 3.0 graphics cards will be available or matched memory sets for the quad-channel experience.

http://vr-zone.com/articles/msi-goes-pci-express-3.0-on-z68-at-computex/12468.html

PCI-e 2.0 graphics cards should be backward compatable in PCI-e 3.0 slots.

The DDR3 memory in present machines should be the same for the X79 boards and will operate in quad-channel compared to triple channel in present X58 boards in the x7200.

Pre-orders for the X79 Clevo and boutique maker's custom builds using the Clevo X79 barebones should start after the CPUs are made available by Intel with shipping a month after that.So my guess is November delivery for those on the pre-order lists.

A step closer to reality for an X79 model as a Sager NP7280 replacement.

Intel X79-Based Motherboard and Liquid-Cooler Sneak Peek

At the Intel Intel Developers Forum going on in San Francisco, some new hardware was spotted on display in one of the demo areas.

A few weeks back, rumors began to spread that both Intel and AMD would be offering self-contained liquid-cooling solutions with their upcoming high-end processors. Well, as these pictures show, Intel is most definitely on-track to offer a liquid-cooling solution. Oh, and yes, that’s an X79 motherboard right next to it...

The X79 Express chipset is the successor to the X58 and will be paired to Intel’s upcoming LGA2011 socket for next-gen processors. The motherboard seen here is the Intel DX79SI, obviously based on the chipset. As its name suggests, the RTS2011LC liquid-cooling solution is also designed for the 2011 socket.

Clevo P270WM release date in AUSTRALIA is January 14th approximately. It should be here before Chinese New Year. Don't know the release dates in other countries.

Looks exactly the same as X7200 chassis. Screen is up to your provider, sure it can take 90% Gamut display.

Power supply still listed as 300w

P270WM3 will be released around the same time

X79 chipset supports XEON CPUs(only from specialty makers)
Dual PSU functionality
Illuminated Keyboard,Yes-won't fit in x7200
Fingerprint Reader, OPTIONAL (check with your distributor).
4 Channel DDR3 with support up to 16GB 1600mhz or 32GB 1333Mhz
No HDMI Imput

Clevo does not have any NDA in terms of... well almost anything.

Sager dealers have an NDA.

This from Sager....

It is currently in PVT stage, (Production Verification Testing) it is scheduled to MP in mid of December if everything passes PVT according to plan.

If without any delay or specification change from the result of the PVT Stage Sager expect to have the unit by end of December to early January.

According to the recent slide by Intel, Intel’s Next Gen High-End platform “Ivy Bridge-E” would be compatible with the current LGA 2011 Socket and the X79 Express Chipset. The compatibility would ensure longevity of the LGA 2011 Socket Motherboards.

The Ivy Bridge-E Processors will be available in 6-8 Core models featuring a 22nm design and would arrive in late Q4 2012.

Yes very true, but is 15% (at MAX) performance gain warrant the purchase of a new $3000 lappy and less than enough battery life to move your lappy from your bedroom to your study.

It could be if someone is on the fence about waiting for the new tech and going to spend that anyway. I am not sure where you got your information from, but it is definitely not going to be a 15% increase (at max) for going from an i7-960 to an i7 sandy bridge E. It was more than 15% going from i7 first gen to i7 sandy bridge first gen and this is even faster than that.

still not going to be only 15%. From the L3 Cache alone (15MB vs. 12MB) you should see that 15%, that doesn't even include the likely improvements from the chipset and memory controller.

So Ivy Bridge E will be compatible with current Sandy Bridge E? What about the first Ivy Bridge processors that release? Are they not going to be compatible with Ivy-Bridge E?

Don't know a lot about this..

SB-E uses socket 2011

LGA 1155, also called Socket H2, is an Intel microprocessor compatible desktop socket which supports Intel Sandy Bridge and the up-coming Ivy Bridge microprocessors

Mobil Sandy Bridge CPUs use the G2 socket(rPGA988B)

Sandy Bridge and Ivy Bridge Mobile processors may use the same rPGA 988B socket but the mobile IVB are reported not to be compatible because of different pin positions.

Do you think we could have a rough guesstimate at what the price will be?

(Wow, the spell checker identifies guesstimate as a genuine word, huh)

I expected more for Sager's next laptop. I think the new keyboard will be nice, but MSI has already been making those for a little while now. What does this laptop offer that others do not, and will not? Because I imagine that by the time the P270WM is released, other manufacturers will be offering the same and more. What recent laptop doesnt offer several USB 3.0 ports, upgrades to single or dual 6990m or 580m GPUs, an amount of RAM larger than necessary and CPUs that must be laughing at today's games?

Dont mistake me, I'm eager to see its release; overall it seems like it will be a nice laptop, and I will consider it because I'll be in need of a gaming laptop soon. But isnt the current crop basically the same except for the lack of a lighted keyboard?

As for the price, I dont expect to get that before they announce it officially.

Finally.
I want 32GBs, the 3820 and 34/54 Express Slot, and CF Card Reader.
Other Bells and WHistles are of no concern, except my choice of HDD, Hybrid + SSD, and SSD.
My needs are quite different than gaming, which thankfully due to it's popularity drives the market forward.

I will simply use this for live performance, stream large Orchestral Instruments, and other select sounds via Master MIDI Controller, and Express 34 Slot is for my PCI-e 1X DSP rack ( soundcard.....3500 USD )
Thankfully I make money and can aford to always be a step ahead in sound quality and performance.

I personally thank all of the gaming GuRu's here as w/o your popularity, attack squads of BETA testers, etc.
I'd be screwed.
I still am pissed about paying 1099 USD for 1 1GHz Coppermine back in the Bronze Age.
You guys made AMD and Intel compete like fiends...

As Clubber Lang said about his Clevo Laptop at CES a few weeks ago...............

Anand Shimpli: Clubber, do you accept a challenge from X7200's and HP, Dell laptops in a battle of performance and sound quality.....?

Clubber Lang ( Mr.T.): I refuse the challenge, as those laptops are no challenge, but I;d be happy to beat up on them some more..........
