Well, quit drinking and get busy. Put your A+ rating to use by being one of the first sites to offer it. :)

Hmm, they are showing it $194 less then the GTX 580m. Other retailers have it $350 less.

What's the GTX580M prices on the other sites?
On the AVA P150 the GTX580M is $501
To make the $307.80 6990M in the AVA P150 $350 cheaper than the $501 GTX580M would make the brand new 6990M GPU about $151.That's more than $100 cheaper than the 6970M was.
Just not realistic!

Expect it to be between $200 and $300 cheaper, not $350.
AVA Direct charges more for the base unit and less for the upgrades, so expect some of the cost of the upgrade to be included in the base unit price already. It will likely be cheaper to get the notebook + gpu upgrade through xoticpc.com than through avadirect.

Be careful with those advertising the 6990M. They are many of them out there that are advertising it and they will likely be behind several weeks on shipments compared to Sager Dealers. There are a few sellers out there that purchase from Sager and are choosing to advertise the 6990M, their shipments will be with held for several week as Sager Dealers continue to ship.
Be careful as it would cause obvious frustration seeing Sager Dealers shipping regularly and other orders held up.
In the past on countless occasions Sager has always shipped new technology releases first and I suspect that to continue.

Are there any news for when the 6990m will be available for preorder in the Sager NP8150 from you guys?
Thanks.

GTX485 = $295
AMD6990 = $175
difference = $120:laugh:
In the Satori P170 the GTX485 is $395 while the 6990M stays at $175
In the NINE series x7200 the GTX485 drops to $245
Duel 6990M xfire is $450
Duel 6990M xfire is $575 when ordered with 990X CPU with 2nd power adapter
I think only when you configure an entire notebook should you compare pricing between venders.
Don't forget warranties, service and a company's reputation when selecting who you will purchase from.

I'm not sure how many people will decide to upgrade the GPU on a laptop. Specially that the GPU costs $$$, far above that for desktop setups. Given the cost and time frame, it would be better to purchase a new laptop, than use a top of the line GPU with a laptop that is 2-3-4yrs. Just doesn't make sense. I will just keep that $420 and put that into a piggy bank for my next next laptop.
I hope Xoticpc starts taking preorders for the 6990m, I would be the first one to order it :D

Actually if you look at top end GPU to Top end GPU desktop to Laptop there is not that big of a difference:
a 6970M (current top end card for AMD/laptops) is 550 dollars. A comparable top end desktop 6970 is 350 dollars, but that is about a 100 dollar price drop compared to where they were about 4 months ago. Sure right now, when there is nothing else (unlike in the desktop market) there is a bigger price gap. When the 6990 is released and people have them I expect them to go for about 600 dollars and the 6970M to drop to about 400 dollars. This would put it in line with the desktop cards and if you watch ebay you can probably get a decent deal on one.
Say hello to the 6990! $245 for the upgrade; same price as an upgrade to the 485m. Good stuff.

I logged in to check out my order status and noticed this along the way - Where does it stand in the clevo card line up? When I put in my order I did the 580 because that was the best available at the time and I'm feeling some mega-regret atm
1) 6990
2) 580
3) 485/6970
The 6990m is the best mobile GPU in the world, currently.

o.0 well crap.. the price point is blowing my mind.
Guess I'll end up returning my order :(
kind of annoyed they didn't say anything when I talked to them on the phone yesterday to verify some things. ><
You could always change it if you ordered yesterday. Just call tomorrow and ask them.
The 580 would be more ideal if you want CUDA support and/or PhysX support.

it shipped today sadly.
I'm not sure what CUDA or PhysX would do for me - I've only ever used ATI/AMD, my last build having a 5870m. >< Sadly it died and am currently without a computer to game on.
Damn, it shipped already? That sure is fast, haha.
Anyway, yeah, CUDA and PhsyX are, by no means, necessary. They're a nice little extra though, and you get some better 3D support, if that matters to you. That nice matte screen Xotic offers will most likely be supported with your video card really soon.

well I ordered last week but I've talked to them on the phone the other day to verify a change I requested via email (to an intel wireless card)
Yeah 3D really isn't my thing - Just looking to squeeze as many frames out as I can to keep me happy for a few years. My order actually had two 8170's on it the other one (for my wife) has a 485 in it (she wanted to knock the extra money off of it so she could afford the 90% gamut screen).
Is there any good reason not to have them redo my order?
I really really really don't want to be without a computer any longer than I have to but I want to make sure I get my order to where I'll be happy in the long run.
Well, if you aren't happy, I think you have 30 days to return your laptop, no questions asked. It will run great though, so it will be hard to decide to exchange it, lol.
If it's already coming, you might be better off with it. In terms, of advantages over the 6990, the only one for you, that I see, is the ability (most likely) to get the upgraded matte screen, which is also 3D capable. I know you mention not really caring for 3D, but the double Hz and higher gamut make it worthwhile alone. Bottom line, it might be in your best interest to keep it, just because you've already put the order in, etc.

Okay I might be able to contain myself on the one that has shipped - but the one that xotic still has (they're about to do the screen upgrade for my wife) should be upgraded I would think? seeing as they're priced the same T.T
also thanks for the help scar
Yes, the higher gamut screen is supposed to be quite nice. I would do it, and if you want a "matte" screen later down the road, you could always get a matte screen protector from here (http://viewguard.com). That would be pretty ideal, since you get a high gamut screen AND matte. Either way, the extra gamut would be awesome, even if you don't mind a glossy finish. No problem!

:D oh that's awesome thanks for the link.
One problem I had with my 5870 towards the end was overheating - to the point of shutdown (in some games). I poked around the web a bit but I'm having trouble finding any info on the subject. Do you think I'll have better temps with the nvidia cards?
edit: we ended up deciding to change both machines over to the 90% gamut + 6990m

*Pounds head on desk* I place my order on the 2nd and they post up the 6990 on the 3rd....I really hate my karma at times. Is it to late to change cards you think if ive already been charged and am at phase 2?
I think you're fine, as long as the laptop isn't being shipped to you. Seeing as you say you're in phase 2, it has not been shipped yet. Call them later today!

Good to see Sager's now offering the 6990M.
All the prices quoted above for the 6990M in the Lotus/P150 have been changed on the Malibal site
The duel xfire configuration prices in the NINE series x7200 have been changed as well as the prices for the 6990M in the Satori/P170.
All prices have been raised.
I wonder if Malibal will make good on the preorders with the lower 6990M prices that I listed above and were posted on the site that day?
Was pressure put on to raise the prices or was it an honest mistake?

Why not in ASUS models???
Asus hasn't chosen to offer those. Would be nice, though.. I'd be tempted by that.
Asus GPU's are soldered into the motherboard, not socketed like Sager's.
Not sure if Asus is working on a redesign to allow for the 6990M or not. But it's probably not as simple as Sager's design change, so if they are, it will probably take longer.

Seems like asus plays with less bleeding edge cards, might be a stability thing.
On the G73JH though the GPU has a slot and can be removed.
