I was wondering since the 9800GT is just a renamed 8800GTX. Can they be paired up in SLI?
As far as I can tell, they are 100% identical apart from the name.

There are subtle improvements of the chipset on the 9800m gt though they look exactly the same. The benchmarks show a small improvement too.
I don't think it would be recommended, and your warranty might be in jeopardy...Even as small a change as chip size could mess up an SLI configuration, if I've understood what I've read about them.

I'm sure it wouldn't break anything, it would just fail to work.
What are the differences? They are both the same G92 mobile chip. They both have the same features including integrated PureVideo video processor.
I'm guessing the difference is just a BIOS flash with the new name.
Both chips have exactly the same specs. The performance should be identical on all levels.

I would be interested to know if this works as well.
I just assumed it wouldn't and have been looking around for a second 8800m GTX card to put into my 9262.
