I am not so happy with the G53JW-A1 I bought here.
I've spent some time at the local service center and they've told me they see a lot of the G53's in. I got mine from xotic on March 21st. I loved it! I took it around and made all my friends envious. Right until May 21st, when the power pin snapped out of the motherboard and the laptop died, taking with it the lectures I was writing for the class I teach. I was able to work on my desktop, but being without a laptop sucked! Luckily for me, 3 weeks later my laptop was back in action.
Until July 19. When the power pin broke out of the motherboard. Again.
I don't mistreat laptops. My last laptop was a Lenovo R60. I had it from 2006 til last week (CPU fan error). If I fixed it, I bet it would run at least another year or two. I've never had a power pin snap out of a laptop. Not once. The service center says I'll have mine back on August 19th.
The gild is off the lily and now I'm going to get it back and wait until the next thing goes wrong. I've had it near to 5 months. Of course, it's been out of commission for almost TWO of those months. Not happy with my G53 lately.
Hell, I was even considering using my next tax refund to buy another xotic for my fiancee, so we could game together, but now I'm not so sure. Maybe another Lenovo or something, it looks like they're finally putting ok gfx cards in their machines, and at least a Lenovo probably won't freak out on me...
