I just got my NP6292 yesterday....FINALLY. I am in Afghanistan, so it takes alot longer. However, my 2 megapixell integrated webcam is not working, and I don't seem to have bluetooth. I have installed all the lastest drivers I can find, but when I click on the videoview program, or any program that might use the webcam, it says "NO DMAX Video capture hardware". I have the webcam intergrated into the computer, so why is it not being recognized? I can't find it in the system devices. I can't find bluetooth in my system devices eiher. I was really worried when my laptop went from phase 1 to phase 4 all of a sudden because I didn't think it would get the proper testing that it should. It seems my fears were justified. Anyone know how I might be able to solve this on my own because it will put me in a major bind being out here in Afghanistan to have to try and send this back. Not to mention that I sold my old laptop already and so I would be completely without one. It has already cost me alot in shipping to get this out here, because Exotic PC only ships to billing address's and mine(thank god) is not Afghanistan. So I don't want to keep paying for more 3rd direction shipping just to get what I paid for in the first place. Anyone got any idea's? I hope Justin or anyone else from exotic pc is reading this so they can also give me some help on this.
Thanks

Fireman,

Thanks for your Service! I was a flyboy in the USAF.

I just got my 9262 also. Did you hit Fn+F10 to turn the camera on? I was having your problem until I read in the manual to do that. Now I am having an error "Can't open regstry key". I have a call into tech support for that one.

Hope this helps.

Don

Hi fireman - first of all, I second CaptShack - thanks very much for what you do!

Second of all, did you order your PC with 64-bit Vista pre-installed? The issue you described sounds like it would normally be a driver problem on an XP laptop or maybe something where the user installed the OS (because it would be really strange if a 9262 somehow shipped that way).

If I were you, I'd probably check to make sure that all the relevant programs/drivers are installed (from the CD unless you know otherwise). Also, I can't remember whether the 9262 has a wireless/Bluetooth switch (or another hotkey) - but those should obviously be switched on for Bluetooth to work if they're not already.

Honestly, the best thing to do in your situation is probably to call Sager's tech support:
1-(800) 741-2219 (9AM - 5PM PST) OR 1-(877) 645-9312 (24/7 Domestic Tech Support)

Hopefully some of this will prove helpful. Best of luck to you!

Thanks for both of your appriciation and help. After hitting the fn-f10 key I was able to get the web cam to work, but instead of getting the "No DMAX" code, i am now getting the "Can't open regstry key" message like Capt Shack mentioned. The bluetooth also seems to be working now. I guess things are alot different with how they are accessed with this laptop than they were on my last. I appriciate the help and be sure to let me know what they tell you CaptShack with the tech support call.

I'm guessing that your computer is actually a 9262 even though the title says 6292 :P

I am having the same problem on my 9262. I just purchased one, turned on the camera to check out the camera and I get "Can't open registry key!". I opened skype to see if it was the camera/driver or the software, and skype seemed to work fine. There's a test screen that shows up ok. My guess is that the problem is the software VideoView. I too have Vista x64, and I read online that other people are having problems with the software. The general consensus is that you have to keep installing the software until it eventually works :/ ...which seems a little crazy to me. I guess what I'm trying to say is that if you're using the camera for video chat it will probably work even if you get an error.

This is probably just a glitch in the way the OEM installation of Windows was set up. A bad driver install that snuck past testing. If reinstalling the driver fixes the problem.

Are you all using the same operating system?

Here (http://www.xoticpcforums.com/showpost.php?p=3736&postcount=24)is a thread talking about this same problem and the solution is quoted below:

K, I figured it out during the notorious scrapping of Vista and starting over (twice), because like a lamah I installed the SAME driver yet again, so I guess that's why Billy Boy included System Restore, so part-time morons like myself have a shortcut to use.

The driver for the USB cam that works can be found on Sager's 1.80A CD. This CD was included with the parent SLi GPU that was mailed out to all us peeps who ordered them during the config phase of our lappies. It's got black printing on it. The CD that was shipped with the lappies originally (at least when I ordered mid-May 08) are v1.70D and have red print. Don't install through Browse, use the actual menu and click on the Web Cam option under Optional. DO turn the thing on first by hitting FN+F10, or it'll error out. Also, if you're not coming from a fresh install, make sure you kill all remaining traces of the old driver.

Enabling 'Show hidden devices' in device manager does wonders for that. After you add the enviornmental variable DEVMGR_SHOW_NONPRESENT_DEVICES to System and set the Value to 1 Then, right-click on the Cam in Device Manager, select uninstall, and check the 'delete driver software' check box. Hit OK. Restart. Turn on cam. Install aforementioned driver. Voila. One working cam, w/o probs. :)

Oh... in case you don't know where to add the variable:
Windows>Right-click Computer>Properties>Advanced System Settings>Advanced>Environment Variables>System variables>New
