Just recieved this bad boy and man it rocks!!
It is well built, very quiet and I honestly can not think of any cons whatsoever except one very minor one which is the " \ " key right next to the spacebar, which is a little unusual but nothing you can't get use to.
Another wierd thing i noticed was if you tested this computer on srtest.com it fails the test because i guess it doesn't recognize the 570, so even if you put in a game like i dont know, pong (if there was one) it would fail the graphics requirement and thus show in the requirements not met zone, which is kind of depressing to see but other than these minor tinks, the system is awesome!!!

I recently received my MSI GT683DX-X1 from xoticpc! Great service from my initial questions answered easily by Brett via chat to receiving my laptop. I couldn't ask for better service or responsiveness from an online company! These forums are a wealth of information and really helped with selecting my laptop and the upgrades I did and didn't do.
The upgrades I did end up purchasing were:
Upgraded the Processor: 2nd Generation Intel® Core™ i7-2760QM, 2.4-3.5GHz, (32nm, 6MB L3 cache)
Increased the Ram: 8GB DDR3 1333MHz Dual Channel Memory (2x4GB SODIMMS)
Upgraded the Primary Hard Drive: 500GB (w/ 4GB SSD Memory) Seagate XT 7200RPM NCQ Hybrid 32MB Cache (Serial-ATA II 3GB/s)
Upgraded the Second Hard Drive: 750GB 7200RPM 16MB Cache Buffer (Serial-ATA II 3GB/s)
Removed the raid (not a big fan of raid drives and prefer the additional storage)
Upgraded the Wireless Network: Intel® Advanced-N 6230 - 802.11A/B/G/N Wireless LAN Module + Bluetooth
As for the laptop, I am loving it. I did switch the OS from Windows 7 Home Premium to 7 Ultimate. I receive the Ultimate from my employer as a work at home benefit. Unfortunately, the OS in the laptop wouldn't allow me to do an upgrade just from the DVD, but instead wanted me to pay the $139 for the Windows Anytime Upgrade. I contacted Microsoft help and they were pretty insistent that this was the only way to upgrade. I ended up doing a fresh install of the Win 7 Ultimate and downloading the drivers from the MSI website for the laptop. Everything worked great except the touchpad driver which gives me a popup telling me the driver isn't compatible with the pad. It is the MSI driver from their website and the touchpad manufacturer, Sentelic, doesn't supply drivers from their site. Not a big deal since I always use a mouse. I use a razer when gaming and a simple wireless Microsoft mouse when traveling. Also the new NVIDIA drivers to support the 570 have been added, which has helped greatly.
Overall, this laptop meets my needs. I am a college professor, who is also working on my doctorate and needed a laptop to take to my on-campus classes for a week each semester. I also love online gaming, so the laptop needed to be able to fill the void left by switching from my desktop at home. I haven't been disappointed. I am running Ventrilo, Combat Arms, Americas Army, and ARMA II without any problems. The turbo fans have really worked well at keeping both my CPU and GPU temps at a reasonable range even with a three hour gaming session. The graphics are great and I am using an older Viewsonic monitor which extends my desktop during work, school work, and gaming.
If I have any cons they would be first, the weight, but I expected it to be a little heavy since it is a gaming laptop. But, I haven't had any problems carrying it in a backpack. The only other con would the audio software. I was used to a Creative X-fi soundcard, and the Realtek HD Audio isn't quite as good. But, after some work with getting the software adjusted for my Medusa headphones, it's not too bad. It does have the 5.1 sound and the audio outputs are just right for my headphones. I needed the four jacks for the outputs and the mic input from my Medusa headphones.
Overall, I am satisfied with the laptop and the experience with XoticPC! Thanks XoticPC for a great laptop!
