I am going to get a new gaming laptop. My budget has no limits. I want the best, I wish you could get SSD with Sager/Xotic. Hopefully soon. Here is what I am looking at.....

:smile2:oh, what a beastie!!! Very nice.
The thing I would change is the warranty. Since funds are not an issue, I would recommend going with the 3 year parts and labor for $259.00. It's better than the Sager warranty.
Curious though, why the two 320GB 7200rpm HDDs and then the 500GB 5400rpm HDD? Is the 500GB just back up or something to that effect? Not that you would notice any speed difference between a 320GB 7200rpm and a 500GB 5400rpm, but why not just go with 3 320GB 7200rpm HDDs? Just wondering.

I probably would have done the same thing before I did some research. The 320 GB drives could be put in raid and would contain the OS, etc, while the 500 GB would store a bigger amount of stuff. However, considering that you will possibly be using a raid setup between 2 7200 RPM drives, any data that you put on that 500 GB drive will be quite annoyingly slower than the data on the 320 GB drives. That being said, consider also that the 500 GB drive, after formatting, will have a very close capacity to the 320 GB drives, and that the latency another 7200 RPM drive will be less (not by a huge amount, because of the size difference, but it will make a difference, and considering you're unlimited budget, I would go with the 320 GB 7200 RPM drive)
In other news, GREAT machine, that will blow anything you throw at it out of the water... well at least it would if you were in water... actually if you were in water it'd probably be broken.... come to think of it, why do we even use that expression around here!?
Edit: In rechecking your configuration, you're gonna want to get the X-FI Xtreme Audio card. I got one and I couldn't be happier with it, and I never use anythign but headphones. If you do get it, though, you're gonna need a nice pair of headphones to go with it though. Now, I'm not much of a guy for recommendation, considering I've only used my current pair, and my ipod headphones, but my current pair takes the trophy for best sound I've ever heard. I have the Bose 'TriPort' in-ear headphones. AMAZING responses, (higher highs and MUCH lower lows) and they get so loud that it hurts (not personally recommended...)
One more thing... how did you get an unlimited budget? I mean, I got this email saying the prince of Nigeria needs my credit card number to deposit his treasure, and he'll give me 50%... but I don't know it seems kind of suspicious....

Hmm. Maybe I should get the faster HD. I was mainly getting the big 500gb for files (porn :), music and such). I was going to RAID the 320s for speed. I wish I had SSD,as those seem to be alot faster. As far as my unlimited budget, I am a private practice anesthesiologist and need a gaming rig to pass the time on call and waiting for surgeons. :) Besides, its a business expense :)

also Zatara- arent the XFI cards an external plug in card? I have an XFI card on my home rig and love it. I just dont know if I want to carry around an extra card to plug in

Yes, theyre external, but once you plug them in, they stay in, kind of like a big SD card, and they only stick out maybe an inch or so, so you're not carrying it around or anything. I havent taken mine out since I got it, and I take my laptop to work every day.

I wish the Sager wasn't so damn ugly. I like the new Asus look and love the Alienware case but they just don't compare to the Saeger 9262 in performance. Does anyone know of another laptop that does?? You can only get 8800gtxs in the M17x from Alienware. You cant get quad core either

Another reason to buy through Xotic, the custom skins. As for body shape, etc, I'm sure there are modifications that you can do at the expense of your warrently. But think of it this way: Sager makes (IMHO) the best gaming laptops ever (leaving Clevo out of the loop lol), and so there's got to be at least SOMEONE who thought the same thing you did, and did the modification, and so there's got to be a bunch of tutorials floating around the internets, telling you how to do them. But again, sayonara warrently.

Compal and Clevo both make Sager machines.
Alienware actually gets their machines from Dell who gets thiers from Clevo and Compal believe it or not. The difference is in the parts they specifically order. Compal and Clevo can make high quality machines or low quality machines at the request of the reseller. Dell, Alienware, HP, Gateway and the like are only interested in profit over customer service so they have the manufacture use the cheapest parts possible to maximize their profits. Now days Dell and Alienware are trying to use eyecandy to sell more units, but the quality of their machines are still shoddy.
For example: Dell still seems to have trouble with their screens failing more often than they should and Alienware still has case and lid problems.
Some more reasons to buy through Xotic:
1) Customer service (It doesn't get any better than this folks).:D
2) Warranties (The best ones in the industry and even a little less expensive for extended ones. Example: Alienware offers a 3-year warranty, but it's more expensive than Xotic's and does not cover what Xotic's does).
3) Free, lifetime ,24/7, live, domestic tech support. (You wont find that with Dell or Alienware).
4) The quality of the machines (Xotic is more interested in customer service and giving the customer what they ordered instead of having the manufacture put in a knockoff of what was ordered and charging the price of the higher quality item like Dell and others tend to do, again to maximize profits on the backs of the customer).
5) Xotic does not use customers as experiment specimens to try new tech products out on before the major bugs are worked out. Example: Not offering the SSD drives yet due to the problems with those currently. Jumping on every new bandwagon that rolls through town can also bring down your customer service quality. Sometimes its better to wait to be able to offer a better quality product.

lol! Billy Mays is annoying, but your comment is still really funny when I think about it. (I was just picturing: "Hi, Billy Mays here for XoticPC. The cleanest notebook PCs around.".......)
I don't have the intent on "convincing" anyone or just giving an empty spiel. I just state the facts and sometimes the obvious on top of being detail oriented. :-/ The experience I had with getting my laptop through XoticPC was the best service I have ever received from anywhere and I like to try to share that with others. It's so rare these days to find customer service at this level along with quality product, real full covereage warranties, free 24/7 domestic lifetimne tech support, etc. My experience was rather overwhelming in that department and that's why I joined in and continue to point the arrow of direction to XoticPC to others so they can experience the greatness of this company.:XPCS::notworthy
What's also funny is that a few of us (including me) use the "bowing emoticon" which means "not worthy" as one that means we worship XoticPC, the ultimate in customer dedication. Why not, it's fun and there is genuiness in our appreciation of the folks at XoticPC.:D

And how very ture it is :)
I myself didn't get to talk to Xotic, as their service was so perfect that I didn't need to. I thought of it as kind of a Newegg.com experience for custom, high quality hardware lol

Ya i wanted to know which would be a better comparison to AW m17x
the 9262 cos it has 2 graphic cards
or
the 5796 ? but doesnt have 2 cards,
so does that mean
1) 9262
then
2) Alienware
&
3) 5796

But it takes then 45days, like one & a half month to deliver the laptop
thats a Lot of time to wait :(
