What what WHAT! since when did the Gamming Notebook Heaven start selling netbooks?!? I've had my beasty lappy for gaming for almost a year now and finally decided to pick up a machine for portability. I never imagined my favorite resellers going for a ultra-mobile!?! I'm so sad :( I just bit the bullet and picked up an Eee 901 last week and now XoticPC starts selling the new Asus UPMC?!? with beter EVERYTHING in it.... GAAAAAH! I think I'll go cry in the corner now.
I guess I should have had more faith in XoticPC in knowing what its customers really want :)

I've been looking into UMPCs, but they didn't really seem worth it to me... but idk I've never even seen one in person lol. You sound like you have some experience with them, are they nice and all?

They have some major +s and a few -s. the obvious - is they arn't a NP9262 :) while most of them can barely run xp, some of the newer ones are starting to really flurish (if you look at the new asus it supports vista) the battery life and low weight are the big selling points, the small size also helps (7 inch screens fit in a cargo pocket) you can comfortably carry these machines in one hand and use them ANYWHERE. I use my 901 on the bus commute to work and take it to family gatherings when I need to escape the enigmatic "social world" I've been using it for about a week now and finally went to move my NP5792 and almost gave myself a hernia :) it really feels like that much of a difference!
with the atom processors consuming about a watt, the real world battery life is on the range of 5-7 hours!
personally I would wait to see the processors improve before getting another, rumor has it the dual core atoms should be coming out relatively soon.

Hey, I got my NP9262 two weeks before the new processors and graphics card came out for it.
And I usually hear about those things also, which was even more annoying.
(I could of saved a thousand bucks or so (X6800 cpu) :S )
