I just received my 9262 today and am getting a BSOD every time I try to install 64bit Vista. I am able to install XP pro but I get the same error every time when trying to boot from the vista install discs. The BSOD error is
A problem has been detected and windoes has been shut down to prevent damage to your computer
below in the technical information there is a reference to acpi.sys
I did a search on the forum and there were some having the same issues but I did not see any of the options they talked about in the bios to change.
Any help would be great!
Thanks,
AlaSmiths

One more relevant peice of information. This seems to just be a vista x64 install issue. I was able to install x86 version of vista with now problem. I have a MSDN subscription so I have access to all OS installs. I have tried 2 seperate versions of the x64 installs from MSDN and both produce the same error. I wonder if there is possibly something wrong with the x64 MSDN installs. I have a buddy at work that owns a retail version of it. I am going to give that a try tomorrow.
If anyone can think of anything else please let me know.
Thanks

Probably drivers. Vista x64 requires signed drivers, and thats a big problem for laptops, considering almost everyone here at least uses a video driver from laptopvideo2go. If it's durring install, its probably not the video, though. If you can somehow get it installed, and get in with safemode, or something, you can use EasyBCD to enable unsigned driver support, and install anything you need.
One thing to try, make sure the version you're installing has SP1, and is fully updated. I don't think there's anything wrong with downloading an updated copy with bittorrent, as long as you bought yourself a legitimate key.

I am using a version with SP1. Heck I tried one without SP1 and still the same thing. I have also looked to see if there is an update to the BIOS but neither Sager nor Clevo seem to point you in the direction of the latest BIOS. Does anyone have a link to the latest BIOS for the 9262?
Thanks

Nah I doubt it'd be the BIOS, neither Sager nor Xotic would do that you you lol, plus with the new hardware installed, you have to assume it's a fairly new version anyway. Let's see... what else is x64 only? Might be a memory module, but that's also doubtful... I dunno dude you've officially stumped me.

I am going to try to install 64bit XP. If that does not work then I dont know what to do.

Well even if it does work, you shouldn't be forced into an OS that you don't want to use. I would contact Xotic support.

I have never heard of this happening before but the problem was the burning software I was using to burn the ISO images. I have a "Dell Edition" of Roxio that came free with my dell computer at work that I was using to burn all the images. I found a previous dvd that was burned a while back that was a version of vista 64 bit enterprise edition and it worked fine.
So I downloaded and used CDBurnerXP and it worked. I am now a happy camper with 64bit Vista Ultimate installed. Yay!

lol wtf hahahaha
well glad to hear it worked. I use ISORecorder. Its light and lets you integrate into the Windows shell (right click on an ISO and click burn)
But congrats on the fix :)
