So a desktop with no OS on a first gen platform with a video card that is now two generations back and you want 1700 dollars for it? do you know what you can build for 1700 dollars in a desktop?

The closer the X79 motherboards with Sandy Bridge E CPUs are in becoming a reality the more X58 systems we'll see being offered for sale.

Still a fine gaming platform but what's it really worth on the second hand market.Ebay is the best place to go fishing.

Since no Hard Drive or Windows included I would part it out on eBay.

I'm not sure why people do this. Start way high and expect to have people negotiate down. I see it on here frequently. When you price it that high you simply scare people off. To enter into negotiations you need to be somewhere in the same ball park.

What would be reasonable then?

Hmm the case and motherboard are the parts I like the best in that deal. I would add up the costs of buying the parts individually and ask a bit higher then that. After that you can get some negotiations going. I believe brand new that's a $300ish motherboard and a $140ish dollar case right? The rest I'm not too sure about.

I added everything up and did 15-25% subtractions depending on the parts.

In all honesty I think $1500 is a fair price.

I dunno because I'm not interested. What I do know is that a few months ago prior to deciding to purchase my Sager I was looking at building a desktop. For, IMO a better gaming system, I would have paid about $1200 and that was with a hd and OS. I would have not have chosen your CPU or GPU.
