General Questions
1) What is your budget?
Well, I'm in my senior year, and I wanted a nice laptop for college. I'm not too worried about the money, but, for benchmark's sake, I'd like something between 1500 and 1700 dollars; not too much higher than that. What I need most is a solid investment for four years, maybe a warranty to cover those crazy college days; I definitely won't have to much fixing money. Hope that helps :P.
2) What size notebook would you prefer?
c. Mainstream; 15" - 16" screen
People have recommended small screen laptops, but I find these really annoying, so I'm aiming at a good 15" laptop, something with a good typing keyboard and a nice resolution for playing games. And a non-glossy screen with high resolution; I hate glare but i need those pixels!
3) Please select your country's flag as a post icon and tell us what country are you buying this in.
Um, I can't seem to find it, just a bunch of smilies and hand sybols. If it helps, I live in Ghana, but I'm definitely studying in the US. I don't know if its possible for you guys to ship here; but if not, is it possible you could ship to a friend of mine who is coming down here in the near future?
4) Are there any brands that you prefer or any you really don't like?
Well, as per custom laptops, no real preference; though Asus seems unbelievably ugly in my view. As for mainstream, I've had a Dell D505, and it was the worst laptop ever. The screen got these ugly dead pixel lines, the keyboard keys broke, and the thing practically burnt my lap. That's why I'm on the other side, looking at you guys...maybe you won't royally screw me over eh?
5) What tasks will you be performing with the notebook?
Studying and Gaming. Typical college stuff; nothing too fancy. Probably a Business or Economics major, so no worries there.
6) Will you be taking the notebook with you to different places or leaving it on your desk?
Probably quite a bit of movement, I don't know. Typical college student kinda stuff? I'd like it pretty durable, but also nice to look at. Discrete with the lid-closed, but nice with the lid open, you know?
7) Will you be playing games on it; if so, which games?
I love anything Lionhead Studios makes. Black and White 2 is a game I've always wanted to play, but never had the specs for. Here's my chance :P. My strategy for gaming is not to keep up with the newest releases, but to hit a benchmark where I can load some nice old games, or start emulating a Gamecube or PS2 (Which I have :P)...so yeah, the specs to run that kinda stuff.
8) How many hours of battery life do you need?
Um...well, quite a bit. As much as you can get me really, I don't think I'll be in 'performance' mode all the time though; probably just when I get free time. My D505 lasted an hour and a half on a good day, so I'm ready for anything.
9) Do you mind buying online without seeing the notebook in person?
Actually, I don't mind. My Dad will though, but I can reason with him. Since I've been so screwed up by Dell and hate the overpriced brands like Vaio and Hp that scream "Steal me! Steal me!" I think he'll see the reason. I guess you guys are trustworthy, right?
10) What OS do you prefer? Windows (XP or Vista), Mac OS, Linux, etc.
I guess I need Vista for the games, I'll need an x64 bit for all that ram and architecture, but I do like Mac OS. I tried Ubuntu, and I'm not going back. But I don't need it preinstalled, I'll take care of that...a few of my friends have their cds. But you guys do give us the drivers right?
Screen Specifics
11) Would you prefer standard or widescreen?

Build Quality and Design
14) Are the notebook's looks and stylishness important to you?
Fairly important. I want it subtle, but a nice look and feel to it. Something along the lines of a macbook, comfortable, elegant, but a lot more subtle. Yes, I suppose I'd like the thing I'll spend most of time on to be fairly attractive.
15) When are you buying this laptop and how long do you want this laptop to last?
I'll buy it around next year probably, maybe around April, May, or even earlier maybe. I'll probably wait for the last possible second to get the best specs, because I don't plan on upgrading or replacing it for a long while. Four years and more is how long I'd like to last...maybe a warranty for my clumsiness too? :P
Notebook Components
16) How much hard drive space do you want; 40GB to 500GB?
Between 250 and 320. I don't get all the SSD stuff, but as far as I'm concerned, space tromps speed; I just want to be able to run B&W2...and 4 gigs of ram should be good enough :P.
17) Do you need an optical drive? If yes, a CDRW/DVD-ROM, DVD Burner or Blu-Ray drive?
Just a simple CDRW/DVD...no blu-ray's for me.
