Hey, lately I've been having a few problems with my laptop.

I have the nvidia 8800m GTX driver vrs 7.15.11.7490

Anyway I've been having a problem with my computer being a bit choppy. First it started mostly when I'm reading a webpage then I scroll wheel down and it lags a bit then scrolls down. Also this happens when I change tabs on firefox or minmize a window or similar things. Now when I'm watching videos they are choppy about every 4 seconds or so.

Another problem is sometimes my computer goes into a coma and won't wake up. Just seems like it's hibernating and it won't wake up. It's happened when I've had the lid closed and opened it and also when I had the lid open and came back to after a while.

Thanks for any help.

Hi msradtke - sounds like driver weirdness to me. Where did you get the driver that you listed? (Also, can think of what you did on your computer in the day(s) before the first time this issue ever occurred?)

I'm fairly sure I got it from the sager website, and maybe even after it started occuring. I can't really think of anything specific besides leaving my computer on for long periods of time. It's actually not doing it at the moment with video but it's being a little choppy when I type this in.

The first time something similar happened was my comp would kinda stall (and I think the fan would spin faster) when opening something like firefox or some other small program, or even minmizing a window. At the moment it's kinda the opposite of usual, it isn't being choppy (only every once in a while) when I scroll down when I'm in firefox or something, but it's being much more choppy just typing this (like every 5 second it will lag then 3 letters appear at once, if you know what i mean).

There's a chance I got the driver from somewhere else cause sager was being slow but I'm pretty sure it was happening already.

Thanks for any help, I know i haven't given much new information.

msradtke my 5793 does the same thing and my drivers are all stock. It's very irritating. On top of it, my Blue Ray won't play like it should either and my drivers are current as is my firmware for my player. It's getting old.

Welcome to Windows.

There's probably nothing wrong with either of your computers. Lately I've noticed some strange behavior in Firefox and this is due to problems with flash and java applications.

It seems you only have this problem when using Firefox and if you opened task manager or better yet, ProcessExplorer you would see that Firefox is probably hogging close to 100% of CPU cycles for an extended period of time causing your computer to slow to a crawl. Restarting Firefox should fix the problem for a while. This explains why your fan spins up also.

Get the FlashBlock extension and install it. Also get NoScript or simply disable java to block java scripts and flash objects from playing automatically since they are primarily the culprit that causes this to happen.

Again, I doubt there is anything wrong with your computer or your drivers.

I agree with Woody, I've recently seen strange behavior on my desktop PCs with certain things that were fine a few days ago and it is all pointing back to Windows and flash and java apps, etc.
I run XP and won't go near Vista ever. I am curious to see Windows 7 when it comes out though. They say it's supposed to be a solid version of Vista with no problems.....yeah right.

I'll add to this. My desktop PC dual boots with Vista and XP (I run XP only on my DTR notebook). Lately Vista has slowed to a crawl on my 3.6GHz RAID0 desktop with a GTX 260. It takes forever to boot and then eventually settles down with occassional hiccups while working in it. I hadn't done anthing to it except for loading the Windows updates as they came in and I can't find any specific culprits using ProcessExplorer.

I did a little research and this is a fairly common thing in Vista.
