This morning, I had the wonderful misfortune of what I believe to be a blown power supply. I do a lot of gaming and have never had a problem. The laptop is always plugged into an APC 1500VA/865W UPS while at home, I run the fans at high speed, and it sits on the laptop cooler I purchased with it. The laptop was sitting idle, I heard a loud pop, and it shut off. It would not start up again, which leads me to believe it's the power supply. Now I'm just waiting on Sager to send me the RMA shipping label so I can send it in for repair.

Luckily, I have a Dell D830 I'm configuring so I can use it while the Sager is gone for repair. Hopefully it'll be a quick turnaround time. After using the Dell, I remember why I purchased the Sager. The Dell is tiny by comparison. I think it will at least run RealFlight G3.5 and Team Fortress 2 so I shouldn't be totally bored for the next couple of weeks. As luck would have it, the next two days are my days off!

Sorry to hear about your lappy. It can be a pain to be confined to inferior machines while you wait. I hope to hear your turn-around goes quickly

That is quite unfortunate. But always remember: What would have happened if the same thing had happened to the Dell? You would have called up, only to find yourself on the phone with some poor guy in India, whose entire english vocabulary consists of the words 'sorry' and 'ipconfig'.

Xotic ftw.

@ robamb: Thanks, the condolences help cure my pouting! =)

@ Zatara: That's a good point! The worst part is, I finally, after three nights of trying different programs to convert videos for iPhone, found a good one last night and had planned to do a lot of video conversion over the next couple of days. Ah well, the Dell will work but 1GB of RAM isn't as nice as 4GB, and a Dual Core 2Ghz isn't as nice as a Quad Core 2.4Ghz.

Lol you should've asked here for that, too. I've been using Videora iPod converter for a long while now, I'm sure that'd work with the iPhone, especially considering it works with iPod Video 5th gens lol. In fact, try it out on the Dell. I used to use it on my OLD Dell Inspiron 8600. 768 mb RAM, 1.4 Ghz processor, no problem lol.

Thanks, that's a good point, I should have! I tried it and it's pretty good but I like Xvid4PSP the best. Plus, the built-in ads in Videora are a little annoying. Xvid4PSP is the only one I could get to resize and crop a certain music video correctly so I was pretty impressed with it. I did use Videora when I had my 5.5G iPod Video.

Hm, I'll have to give that a try actually... does that work with all iPods? Cause I'll be getting a 6.5 gen later today, and supposedly the video life is quite notcably better than the 5th gens lol.

It should work for you. It has built-in iPod/iPhone profiles. I can guarantee you one thing, the 6.5G iPod will have better battery life than the iPhone! =)

I got it back yesterday. It was a quick turnaround. Sager fixed it and shipped it back the same day they received it! Surprisingly, it turned out to be a blown video card. I'm hoping it was a fluke because I baby this thing. I remove the bottom cover and use compressed air to clean it often and it always sits on the laptop cooler I purchased with it.

The thing that bothers me about the cooler is that now on the order page it shows it is for 15.4" and smaller laptops. At the time of purchase it was the only option available and had no disclaimer about size. It may not be the weak link though because the GPU idles at around 42 degrees Celsius. I'm probably going to order a Zalman NC2000 or something similar soon. I do leave the laptop turned on all the time when at home and leave the fans on high. I don't think I can stand another two weeks without it!

Yeah thats gotta be a fluke, there's no way a video card would blow from you taking care of the laptop lol.

In other news, congrats on getting it back lol

Wow, you're quick on the replies! =)

Thanks, and I hope we're both right. I was really impressed with Sager's support. It was a painless process.

Well I do similar, leaving the lappy on all the time during the day when I am in. No problems, just hope what happened to you is a fluke. I can't play my games on the Toshiba. At least not the games I want to play. Sure hope it is a fluke as my video card idles around 40 degrees and plays in the mid 60's to 70 at the highest.... No problems yet but one never knows.
I use a Zalman 2000 and it does the job nicely, sucks all the ambient heat out of the air prior to that air getting to the bottom of the 9262.......

Good about the turn around time.

Congrats on getting it back....

Thanks, I hope it's a one time thing also. I'm going to spring for a Zalman NC2000 soon but I haven't done it yet. The GPU idles at 45 and reaches the high 60's during gaming. I've been getting a BSOD occasionally while playing TF2 but I haven't had any problems with any other games so I hope that's an isolated issue.
