I seem to be stuck,

I dont know if it comes with a heatsink!!

my cpu is OEM so that is verify, no heatsink

However xoticpc.com will not reply to my email about weather they ship a heatsink for the CPU or not!?!

All barebone laptops that I am aware of come with a heatsink for the CPU. :)

Thank you JUSTIN!!

I was going crazy even stated to email Mark at killernote books to ask him for heat sink.

hummm.. not a bad idea if he uses better ones then stock.

Do you know if he does?

If a multi billion dollar company like Clevo or Flextronics (Arima) who spend millions in Research and Development can't engineer these minimal design changes that supposedly make such a "huge" difference they shouldn't be in the business in the first place.

Well I know it will work flawless.

But what happens when I overclock the QX9300 2.53GHz to ==> 3.7 GHZ?

will it work then? the answer is No,

That is why we upgrade the heatsink, just like my desktop q6600 that runs a 2.4 GHz and its running now at an overclocked 3.7 GHz 24-7 all the time! (running it now for 1 year still working)

This is posiable because we are able to disapate the heat at a much larger rate then we can with a stock heatsink that was designed for a 45w TDP.

Furthermore, if I do overclock that high on this laptop it will power off as I will draw too much Watts from the Power Supply Unit (rated at 280w).

So im not gonna Overclock that high, but a good heatsink is better to have then NOT to have.

Ask around, youll see im right.

Overclocking rules! :notworthy

:D

and about kn, I do no know what he has for a heatsink or if its any good.

Look at the Thermalright Extream Ultra 120 that thing is NOT a fluf at all, it works.

Mind you we can not use such big heatsinks in laptops due to size constraints.

So in the end, you are right.

He is a 'fluf' lol hahahahahha

Not that i want to rain on your parade again but, Heatsinks unless you create pipes that will take the heat somewhere else (and that believe me is MAJOR work in a laptop and i would never do it) isnt what limits your heat dissipation. it is not your heatsink but your airflow, simply because 90% of the time in the laptops its not about how efficiently your heatsink dissapates / channels heat from your cpu into your case, its how fast can your fans take the hot air out of your case that will make the difference. So overall adding a notebook cooler to generate aditional airflow is a much better solution than adding a custom heatsink that will change almost nothing overall.

So, will a minor custom heatsink allow you to OC something that wouldnt have worked with the stock heatsink? I do not think so. because in the end what you really need is more airflow. And very rarely in laptops you have °too much° air flow and the limitation is actually your heatsinks.

Of course here i am talking general terms, I am sure Mark could show me a 2% difference between a stock and a top of the line custom heat sink. But will that small margin make something impossible now possible? I highly doubt that. And mostlikely what he will end up doing is adding airflow somehow, which would have done the job even with your stock heatsink.

I look forward to seeing your documented progress on your build. I am contemplating the same.

Oh yea man, i totaly aggree with you.

If its a 2% increase then i dont want it.

as for the fans, i just got a laptop cooler that has 3 x 120mm fans in it. sick. go it from ncix.

this thing will be better then any heatsink replacement you can find that is for sure.

BUT, all im saying is IF and again its a big IF, if there is a better heatsink avail. then why not.

and NO, i dont want only a 2% increase. forget that idea.

see this link for my laptop cooler:

FNAKFHE (http://www.xoticpcforums.com/member.php?u=9385) - You were shipped, almost a month ago, a brand new regular production barebones just as we received it from OCZ. Any kind of soldering in the system would be the work of Flextronics, the manufacturer of the notebook.

Barebones orders do not ship sealed as we test/inspect every machine after receipt from OCZ. To be honest I don't understand the reasoning for some of your comments on the OCZ Forums?

In reading this thread, I agree. I don't understand either, but I can say this: Overclocking a laptop is NEVER a good idea. So if that is what FNAKFHE is attempting then it is no small wonder there are problems. If one is going to overclock then its best left to doing it with a desktop where the parameters have more room for it.

Hold the phone here,

this is nothing about overclocking

and not to make a rant about it (begin rant here) but i was so excited about getting this laptop i mean not because it a expensive and cool gameing laptop but because its the first of its kind. then you guys/"jerks" send me a scratched laptop and it just truned me off and botherd me.

I already pay you 100+ USD in shipping (first you asked for 50 then it went up) so i dont wanna play with shipping back and forth, you should have checked it and not send me a scratch laptop!

Non of this would happen if you dont open my laptop and take them home with you to beginwith! (testing my arss)

so that is why your a jerk, if it was not you who scratched it then they guy who opened my box and scratched it then shipped it to me is a jerk.

FNAKFHE (http://www.xoticpcforums.com/member.php?u=9385) - We discussed with you in email to which you agreed that you had originally thought there were scratches and then you noticed after you took a cloth to the laptop it was nothing more then streaks. It is not uncommon with this type of high gloss finish on these OCZ Notebook that some faint swirls can be seen in the background. The finish on these notebooks is nearly like a automotive finish. You can use regular automotive wax on your notebook and it should fix this. Your exact words via email back to us were:

I am just a f****** idiot.

I just used a soft cloth to wipe it and they were streaks from when you guys cleaned it.
We test every barebones to ensure they start up before we ship it out. We are very careful and cautious with every notebook we touch. We are sorry you feel otherwise. :(

I can atest that XoticPC treats every single notebook with TLC. I had custom skinning done on mine and when I received it, every inch of the notebook outside and inside was flawless. My notebook is high gloss as well and therefore is subject to smudges, fingerprints etc. All that is required is simply wiping it down.
On top of that, XoticPC tests every single machine that comes through their place to make sure it's perfect before sending it to the customer. They will NOT send inferior product! These things are what sets Xotic apart from the rest of the resellers who just want to churn out units no matter what and don't even bother to test. XoticPC really cares about their customers!!!

so where did the white paint on the bottom come from?

that is not tlc dude.

Justin@XoticPC

Can you provide a picture of this "white paint"? This was not stated in your original email nearly one month back.

FNAKFHE
12-05-2008, 05:47 PM
can not even be bothered to pull out my camera amuse your foolish empire.

your station is dirty and your crew is fail.

sorry but that's a fact.

Humm... not much left to say.

i did not email it cuz i did not care about that, the scratch is what pissed me off most.

i should let you guys know dude.

i mean justin come on, the guy who worked on my laptop was a freeking farmer!!

Dude, get it together if you must play whith my laptop and take it home then inspect it before you ship it out and trick me to thinking its brand new.

dude, no way that 'thaing' was brand new!

edit: it was less paint and more scratches on the bottom cover that comes out. and it was scratched by a white surface hence the white paint. dude, im not a kid and my rich dad did not buy this for me. it was used just be a man and admit your fail.

This guy is an idiot and his childish ranting has nearly made all of his claims of "Xoticpc failure" moot. He can not even discuss intelligently what problems he is having or provide Justin with a picture so he can discern what may, if anything, have caused this at the computer shop.

Dude, go back to your Mountain Dew and WOW. This small company would not be in business this long if they made and/or shipped crap.

I am troubled also as the expectations are both stupid and unrealistic! As said before. What are you retarded? With all that has been said and asked for OP is pushing stupid?

Also the darklord knows zero about heat dissipation and borders on a fool.
