Well off the top of my head, judging by the names, the QX has an unlocked multiplier (Extreme vs Quad)... amirite?

You can view the two processors specification listed below:
According to the spec sheets, the power consumption is the main difference.
Intel® Core™2 Quad Processor Q9650 (http://processorfinder.intel.com/details.aspx?sSpec=SLB8W)
Intel® Core™2 Extreme Processor QX9650 (http://processorfinder.intel.com/details.aspx?sSpec=SLAN3)
I believe another difference as Zatara214 mentioned the QX has an unlocked multiplier

oh thnx:) i didnt know that. I dont know why i didnt think of googleing it b4 but i did google it and found out that its really for the oc ing. qx9650 really has an unlocked multiplier but q9650's multiplier is 9 or 11(im not sure) already so its really stupid to pay an extra 500 to qx processor. And i doubt anybody would oc their 9262 :)
thnx again
