Ok, I know what Arctic Silver thermal compound is used for, but why is it offered with every laptop configuration?

I think you already know the answer. Laptops run on the warm side period. High-end lappies such as the ones from XoticPC tend to run hot because there's 5 times the power under the hood of one of these babies compared to a standard lappy one can pick up from the usual places. As we all know heat and electronics don't get on too well, so any help in conducting heat through a cooler to dissipate it is a good thing. Since cutting corners and churning out cheap quality machines is not part of XoticPC's mission, they are going to offer certain things that equate to high quality and customer satisfaction as standard on their machines. Sometimes the little things do matter.:)

Thanks. So basically if I click that Radio button to order the Arctic Silver, does XoticPC apply the compound to the processor etc or do I? Specifically referring to the ASUS G71G-A2

Thanks :)
P.S. I think the boards are borked with the change is DST. I had to turn mine off to be able to get on the boards without errors.
