Hey folks, I just bought a Sager NP9262, which should arrive on Friday, yay! I bought this laptop pretty much exclusively for playing LOTRO when we're at the in-laws, and whatnot. :P I'm not a hardcore gamer by any means (I think the last game I beat was Ultima IV on my Apple //e), but as a serious Tolkien fan, I've fallen pretty hard for LOTRO. Have been playing it on a 2.13GHz Dell desktop with a 512MB 9600GT TOP, and am looking forward to the Sager blowing it away performance-wise.

Question: is a notebook cooler de rigeur for extended gaming? e.g. will I shorten component life if I just use the laptop on a desk? Thanks for any input.

A notebook cooler is always recommended if you have the notebook running for an extended period of time. The cooler will provide additional airflow, which will cause the internal system fans to not work as hard-prolonging there life.

A good choice for it would be the Zalman NC2000 .
Also, make sure , if not on the cooler, that the laptop's back is raised a bit for better airflow.
The 9262 has 4 fans that suck up air from under it, so it's always a good idea to make sure that heat doesn`t build up under it.
