Hi,
I have a np5792 and a friend of mine broke my internal keyboard by dropping a glass of whine on it...
So my Fn key does'nt work anymore, and my screen is on the lowest brightness possible, could anyone please help me change the brightness.
I use my computer for gaming and mostly for work... So it is really important.
I have heard that it is impossible to remap the FN key... So I don't know what to do.
I've try looking in the BIOS menu, but still nothing.
Thank you

With Vista Home Premium, I went to Control Panel, Power Options. There is an "Adjust Display Brightness" on the left. I checked and it worked for me. Hope it helps.
How long ago did this happen? Are you sure it is completely dry? Have tried repeated press and release? Some with a good amount of force?
I know the keyboard is what is not working but doubt that is the problem.

I don't have that option, I know a lot of people do but I don't...
I don't know what to do, I sent an email to the custumer service, and I hope they will find a solution for me...
I am just stuck with this brightness...
The whine accident happened a few weeks ago, and I had the computer cleaned up, but some keys don't work anymore, I tried pressing really hard on the keys to make Fn+F9 work but nothing...
I was wondering if there was anything to do to send a signal to the computer that would equal to the signal we send when we press Fn+F9...
The brightness problem appeared yesterday when I un-plugged the AC, but usually once I plugged it back on, the brightness would come back to full mode... not anymore I guess.............
Thanks

FOUND IT !!!!!!!!!
Oh my god, I've been looking for a solution for hours, and finally.... I just set the default setup in the BIOS and tadaaaaa it worked :)
It was probably the easiest way of fixing it but I didn"t see it.
THANKS !

Glad you got it fixed. It's fairly straightforward to disassemble the 5792 and remove the keyboard either for replacement or more detailed cleaning. It's also possible you have some fluid or sticky residue on the other components below the keyboard.
I have a copy of the 5792 service manual if you'd like it. I can send it to you.

Thank you but I actually downloaded it from the Sager website.
But nothing in there could've helped me.
I'll command a new internal keyboard, but for now i'm using an external one.
The guy who cleaned mu computer disamble all of the keys, and cleaned them but nothing to do, I guess the alcohol in the whine just killed the electric system in the keys.
Thanks again for your posts.
Have a nice one !
