This is obviously a brand new computer. Are you installing Windows for the first time or trying to recover from a previous error or just testing? Are you using an off the shelf copy of Windows XP? Pro, home, what service pack? Or is it the restore disk that came with the notebook? Or is it a slipstreamed copy you made yourself?

Are you able to reach the first menu when it prompts you to select a partition? Is the main hard drive set to AHCI or IDE in the BIOS?

Blue screens during a windows installation generally mean faulty memory. Try testing your ram using memtest86 (http://www.memtest86.com/)

Hey all.

If you install windows xp you get a blue screen error,

this laptop does not work with xp because there are no drivers.

Has anyone got it to install XP ?

FNAKFHE (http://www.xoticpcforums.com/member.php?u=9385) you are correct, the OCZ Force Extreme 840 notebook does not support XP. You may also notice that XP is not offered in our configuration menu online for this model notebook. Vista is the only OS supported on this notebook.

I thought it could be done because befor i payed you there was options for XP configuration.

Also you told me last week that some people on the fourms told you they have XP running on this laptop.

You should always try and locate the manufacturer's website and look at the specs. It states it is compatible with Vista.

It's not necessarily impossible to install an OS on a machine that doesn't support it officially but you have to get creative with the drivers. If you can find drivers for similar hardware that will install you may get it to work. Of course if the compatibility is so bad that it blue screens before you get to the Windows install screen you're probably SOL.

I managed to install Vista on a custom machine that didn't have any drivers available for the motherboard or chipset by using drivers for a later version of the chipset. But your results may vary.

that link is only for vista drivers.

they do not have xp drivers on there page.

they do not want to support xp,

i need to know what internal components are inside this laptop.

Try slipstreaming with nlite. Search nlite and drivers for all hardware components. Worked for raid driver issue I had trying to get xp to install on a 9262 dual boot setup. Where raid drivers were not included with xp install disc. Floppy drive wil not work to install drivers on the 9262. Hope it works for your hardware.

I have a similar issue with my Sager NP2096, BSOD as soon as Windows loads drivers. I have been reading up and it seems that there are issues with drivers in XP sp1 and sp2. I am testing a XP sp3 disc tonight, which from what I have read has drivers for SATA that are not in sp1 or sp2.
I will let you know how it goes.

If you are still having problems with the install I would recommend calling into Sager support. (after you try a SP3 install)

After having issues installing XP sp1.....Which would only end up with a BSOD....
XP with SP3 installs fine.
