So I got a new error today on my 8862. I am guessing it was trying to enter standby mode, which it has done successfully many times in the past, but it got this error message:
"The device driver for the 'Microsoft ACPI-Compliant System' device is preventing the machine from entering standby. Please close all applications and try again. If the problem persists you may need to update the driver."Any ideas why this would suddenly start happening out of the blue? Any way to fix it without doing another windows install?

Thanks!

Couple of thoughts? Any warnings in device manager? Any peripherals plugged in? If so unplug them including network/Internet, does standby now work? Are you talking the timed out standby or like say even when you close the lid? What are your power options set like? Have you looked in advanced power options a few things in there could be affecting. Most notably some having to do do with media file sharing.

Also did you install any hardware/software?

On both AC and battery?

Wow, great questions! I will answer the ones I can for now and try the computer again to answer the others!

No warnings in the device manager.
No peripherals plugged in.
Occurs with Timed out standby.
On battery power.
No installed hardware.
Only software installed are a couple games and temp monitoring programs. NO media file sharing!

I don't know what my power options or advanced power options are. They are just the default settings for right now. Any suggestions on that?
