Hi,

I have purchased a new Sager NP 5797 with the GTX 280M through xoticpc. The machine is beautiful. I tried connecting the laptop to my 32 inch Sony Bravia for watching blu ray movies through HDMI. The video is coming out beautiful but the audio is not going to the TV. Any idea how to resolve it?

Thanks

try checking your tv settings. its like that in my tv, but connected to my cable box. used hdmi but there's no sound. changed settings on the cable box instead of stereo i used hdmi and presto, i got sound coming from my tv. i have sony bravia too. =) if you messed up with the tv settings and there's no sound try the laptop. =) i don't have the sager 5797 though. =( oh well, a lot of guys here have 5797 so in a few hours they'll help you out. try messing with the tv first. =)

-x- guess didn't really help =) -x- :eeek2:

It will only do audio if the SPDIF cable was connected from the motherboard to the video card inside the laptop. I am not sure if these laptops have the connector like desktop PCs do.

Getting a laptop shortly with a 260 in it, and am hoping the HDMI audio works.

Inside the control panel, select "Hardware and Sound" and click "Manage audio devices." Inside of there you need to select "HDMI" and make sure the output is enabled and set to use the Realtek sound card.

This should fix your audio output problem
