Okay, i've spent the last 5-6 hours trying to figure this issue out. When I first got this laptop under a year ago, I was unable to install XP. At the time I didn't know it was due to the AHCI issues and not being able to disable it. I've done some research and been lead around to fixes some claim will work but I still cannot get windows xp (SP3 with integrated intel sata drivers etc) to install properly. As far as I can get is to where it will ask me if I want to install windows on the selected partition or delete, etc, however my harddrive does not properly get read and it shows as having 0 memory yadda yadda, so I cannot install.

I've made multiple different windows cds of my original with driver packs and all sorts of utilities on them to see if it worked differently and nothing so far. I'd really like to get XP up and running, I simply hate vista ~_~. I read that if I could get a working bootable cd that can run dos I can use the AHCI_DIS.exe off compals website to fix my issue, however I cannot for the life of me get a working bootable dos CD with their AHCI_DIS.exe file on it as well to be exec'd.

So if anyone could help me out with getting a bootable dos cd up with the exec I need to run as well, i'd highly appreciate it. Or give me some clues as to another work around so my harddrive is detected properly and I can format and install this darn OS already.

check the other thread about the 2096 and the bluray drive. There are some links on how to create a bootable usb drive with dos installed.

You can then copy the exe onto that drive(make sure you copy both the enable and disable just incase) and use it from there.

In the end this did not solve my problems, but hopefully it will solve yours.
