General Questions

1) What is your budget?

Preferably under 1K. As high as 1.5k.

2) What size notebook would you prefer?

14.1" - 16"

3) What country are you buying this in?

US

4) Are there any brands that you prefer or any you really don't like?

No.

5) What tasks will you be performing with the notebook?

Playing Source games. (TF2, CS:S, L4D) I will also be doing general web browsing so I would like for it to not be that heavy and cumbersome. Are there any laptops with Hybrid SLI?

6) Will you be taking the notebook with you to different places or leaving it on your desk?

It will probably be stationary, but I would like it to be able to move around.

7) Will you be playing games on it; if so, which games?

Always plugged in.

9) Do you mind buying online without seeing the notebook in person?

I've always bought notebooks online so no.

I have Win7x64 RC so I don't need one, or whatever is the cheapest.

Build Quality and Design

13) Are the notebook's looks and stylishness important to you?

250GB+, and if 5400rpm is noticeably slower than 7200rpm then I want 7200rpm.

CDRW/DVD-ROM

Well, i know its a little bit in the high end of your spectrum, but I suggest you take a look at the NP 8662. It will make your source games crazy good

That looks nice, but is there anything cheaper? I don't need to play these at very high 100+ FPS. I'd say 30+ FPS at medium.

Sager NP2096 and NP2098 are your best budget bets. Also there is a "Force" same price point.

For the games you are talking about I would recommend the NP2098. It will fit right into your budget and you can configure one just under 1k that will produce the fps requirements that you just requested. I configured one below for you :

I upgraded the CPU from the standard T6400 as the P8700 will make enough difference for the money spent. The GDDR3 and ddr3 ram on this model make it very attractive in comparison to the np2096. The added battery life from the LED screen also adds to the attraction. Unless you really want a laptop that can produce 1680 x 1050 resolution. In that case we can look at a 2096.
