Hi Nicola,

Always good to hear from someone across the pond!:smile2:
There are a few folks in the UK who have purchased from XoticPC. I just don't recall names or anything. I just remember seeing them come in here and get one.

I'm so sorry I have no idea what the taxes, duties and such would be for the UK.:( (I'm working on ordering something myself from the UK because we don't have it here in the US);) Isn't it strange how that works?:)
I think you would know better than I would about that stuff or do they not tell you what your taxes and such are over there?

If you could find out at least an estimate of what the taxes and duties and such would be I can then do some config ideas helping you find a nice fitting machine for you within your budget. I would look at Asus for you as they offer Global warranties. I sort of don't want to start that project only to find the taxes and such throwing you out of range.
Let me know.

Hi Anewbus

Thanks so much for replying to my post. Yes I need to do a bit more research and work out shipping costs. I think the UK will add VAT at 15% of the total cost of the laptop to import the product into this country. I'll have a check and see how it works the other way round exporting from UK to US!

Yes the ASUS laptops look pretty good I like the G51, only drawback for me is the glossy screen, not keen on a reflective screen. I've seen a video of this model on youtube the graphics look incredible.

Anyway I'll do a bit more research re shipping and taxes and then I'll have a clearer idea of budget. Thanks for your help.

Nicola.

Glad I could help so far.:-/ Yeah that VAT will get you every time! Wow, 15% that is heavy! I guess it includes duties as well? (I thought the VAT was less than that normally. I guess maybe within the UK as opposed to items coming in from elsewhere)?
Let me know if you would like help in choosing a machine and configuring it should you get everyting figured out with your budget.:)
