After several days of searching, I think I may have FINALLY found a solution to my issue regarding Linux not detecting when I am on AC power (no matter what distro or version I use). Apparently, (as I read in a forum post somewhere), it has to do with an old BIOS revision. According to a site I found (I'm not sure when the last time it was updated was, but the latest date on the files was 4/30/2009), the latest BIOS revision is 1.02.16 for the MT860. Not sure if there's a newer one, all I know is that I have never flashed my BIOS, and I received my machine a year ago next month. Justin, is there any way you could send the BIOS to me, along with a short description of how to flash it (either in Ubuntu or Windows, whichever is easier)?

You'll want to send an email (Techsupport@sagernotebook.com) to receive the updated BIOS for your notebook. Please also reference your serial number on the bottom of your notebook when sending your email.

Alright, thanks. After doing a bit more research (and finding my issue exactly in the link below), I managed to discover that this is most likely due to bias towards Microsoft products within the BIOS. If anyone knows what any of this means, you'd be of great assistance.

(Also, I, too, ahve tried the Xorg edits that the OP tried, to no avail)
