I just received my new laptop on the 4th. I have been on it ever since and love everything about it, expect the webcam. When I use Skype or any other webcam program I am really really dark and it is really hard for everyone to see me.

1. Is that normal or it is just this laptop?

2. What is the best way to clean off the finger prints?

3. Are there any helpfully hints anyone has for me about this laptop?

4. I am thinking about upgrading my RAM what can this laptop support?

Thank you in advance.

Keith

Max RAM is 8gigs at the moment. Just make sure you have a 64 bit OS. From what Ive been reading tho, the increased ram hasnt made much of a difference in benchmarks or at least not worth the cost. Hopefully it will come down after december when all the new hardware is released. Until then I would wait.

Try using microfiber cloth or something similar. Its a safe material to use on sunglasses/monitors so I dont see it scratching up your laptop.

As far as tips go, Ive just been going thru the NP8662 owners lounge and seeing what everyone else has been doing.

My laptop should be here in a week or so and ill let you know if im having the same issues if no one else has replied by then.

1. I guess it's normal for the webcam on this model. Mine has the same issue. I don't use my camera that much, but I'm pretty sure you will be able to increare the brightness of the image in the application you are using... in some way. You should check that out. Good luck =)

Thank you for your help.

This is the RAM that I am looking at getting. Which one do you think is better?

Crucial 2GB 204-Pin DDR3 SO-DIMM DDR3 1066 (PC3 8500)

Crucial 2GB 204-Pin DDR3 SO-DIMM DDR3 1333 (PC3 10600)

I am planning on getting 2 sticks of each. I will upgrade to 8GB when it is cheaper.

All i really want to know is if the NP8662 can support DDR3 1333.

You could try installing 1333Mhz memory, but really there's no point as the memory and CPU have to run on the same FSB speed. The CPU has a 1066MHz FSB, which would also make the memory run at the same 1066MHz clock speed.

The CPU has a 1066MHz FSB, which would also make the memory run at the same 1066MHz clock speed.I did not want to comment on this as I have seen much "advertised". What Justin said is correct, it will not run faster than 1066Mhz.

That said all the rest is incorrect. Justin said FSB and memory must run at the same speed? My 1066Mhz FSB runs 800Mhz RAM. If You think my RAM is running slower than my FSB you don't understand.

My RAM is double pumped my FSB is quad pumped. Consider 800Mhz or even 1066Mhz? Cut in half. Alright there we are? FSB, 1066Mhz divided by 4 is what 266Mhz? So 1066Mhz FSB with 800Mhz RAM is a 2:3 ratio where the RAM is faster. Go to RAM at 1066Mhz? That is a 1:2 ratio. So now you wanna have 1333Mhz? OK I will do the math. Oh yea 4:5?

It will not work as Justin said unless you can get in the BIOS and change the ratio. And you can't. But it has zero to do with what Justin said, and I think he meant some 1:1 ratio which means jock?

There is no 1:1 ratio!

Edit 1333Mhz should work fine at 1066Mhz.

Thanks for the clarification powerpack, that's pretty much what i meant too. It was just late at night and my brain was in shut down mode :-/
