Hi XoticPC

Seriously considering due to high AUD/USD and the fact that anyone who can be found selling gaming lappys here marks them up stupidly :/ buying a proper gaming lappy from you guys.

1) Do you post to Oz and can you provide an estimate of how much would it cost (I'm after a 15" Sager). Or, who would you use and what method of transportation so I can look it up myself. [EDIT: duh, my postcode is VIC 3101 if you need that detail...]
2) I'm aware of GST [sales tax] issues upon import, I assume I would pay as an import duty at my end (rather than pay to the seller as we would inside Australia)
3) Aware of warranty/service shipping policy, whereby I would bear cost for shipping in case of claim (wanted to doublecheck - even if claim is found to be valid, i.e. laptop is faulty and is repaired under warranty?)
4) Payment Methods: which do you accept/prefer? (Last time someone tried to bill my credit card from the US, my bank cancelled not just the transaction but the whole card, without so much as asking me wtf.)

Thanks
Ben

PS also, perhaps considering having the business logo on the lappy - wondering about colour specifics.
The graphic could be provided as either:
* white background [would the whole rest of the laptop be white?]
or
* with a white 'halo' effect highlighting it [with the rest of the laptop its standard colour]
(I can provide images if you can't understand what I'm saying)
- How is the graphic put on the top cover - sticker, or some more wear-proof and permanent means?
- Would I provide as a pixel format (high res JPEG/PNG etc) or vector (.AI)?

1) Don't know. Edit: I looked at USPS and a package up to 20lbs to Australia from 39.85 to 76.13 US dollars online rate. OK $344 for 1-3 day up to value $2499, 5 day like $80 but no mention of value?
2) I believe you are correct. Xotic does not have the ability or authority to collect taxes from all countries and localities they serve. Can't even do in the 50 states. So yes on you.
3) Maybe just Canada but thought responsible for shipping to the repair they pay return if warranty.
4) They prefer what they call cash. So much so you get a discount. I believe these include among others PayPal and money orders. If you had those bank issues you mentioned I would avoid credit card also.

The graphics are skins so no the entire notebook color would not be white.

Sticker.

Hi Ben,
I know what you mean by high prices.Im here in NZ and looked into Buy sager from Aus,prices were ridiculous. So have ordered from Xotic PC.
Give you an idea,USPS to NZ is US$289.UPS their favoured is us$489.
These prices are not great, but still much cheaper.Iv bought lappys from the USA before and have had a great run out of them. You get a 3% discount because they want payment by Wire or Bank cheque. To get an accurate cost for shipping, get it from a fixed quote.Unfortunately to ask a salesman is not the best, found this to be grossly inaccurate. Also they require payment to their intermediatry bank for International customers.
They also say that this bank does not charge for a wire transfer, however
i know someone who bought from Xotic was charged US$25.Just be prepared for these costs.Company still good to deal with,HEAPS of good
feedback.Exactly what i look for when buying on the internet.
Im looking forward to getting mu NP9850.Expecting to pay GST but everhopeful the Tax man misses me.Still even cheaper if he catches me.
Great thing about Sager and Xotic pC,if you get a faulty part, you can just send it back.
Hope this helps in some way and good luck.

Shipping was $322 USD to Perth via UPS.

Even with shipping and GST it works out far cheaper than an equivalent laptop purchased in Australia.

I just ordered a Sager from Xotic PC last month and the service at their end was generally quick and good.

But the thing is I am in Hong Kong at the moment, and the laptop they sent me had a huge object under the exterior screen glass (about 2 inches away from the centre of the screen) and I have tried to ask them how to safely remove the glass, so that I can get rid of the object but they just tell me to send it back for warranty.

But that would cost me about 700 usd back and forth, and then this object is probably not covered by the warranty so I might have to pay up to 1000 USD extra on the whole for the shipping + repair/replacement.

Just something I thought you should be aware off before you order your computer. It is not without risks

They will post via UPS or USPS. UPS is faster and much more expensive, but their service record is not great. Most of my parcels end up here ok, but I've had something go missing despite being "signed for". I tried for 3 months to get them to do something and eventually gave up because I was leaving the country for holidays.

2) I'm aware of GST [sales tax] issues upon import, I assume I would pay as an import duty at my end (rather than pay to the seller as we would inside Australia)

Unfortunately you pay gst on the total amount you paid including shipping, so expect an extra 10% plus some kind of brokerage fee (I forget what it's called). If you ship via USPS you'll have to go to one of the Australia Post International Gateways or organise your own broker to handle the fees. It's a real pain, and one of the reasons why I'd still go with a courier like UPS despite being screwed by them once already.

3) Aware of warranty/service shipping policy, whereby I would bear cost for shipping in case of claim (wanted to doublecheck - even if claim is found to be valid, i.e. laptop is faulty and is repaired under warranty?)

I know you're interested in Sager, but the Asus ROG laptops have a 2 year international warranty. Presumably you'd ship to Asus in Aus. Still at your own cost, though.

4) Payment Methods: which do you accept/prefer? (Last time someone tried to bill my credit card from the US, my bank cancelled not just the transaction but the whole card, without so much as asking me wtf.)

For international orders, they ONLY take wire transfer. When I transferred funds to them, their bank deducted an extra US$20 in fees, so I had to call XoticPC and read out my card details for the extra $20. Btw, I use Amex for US transactions because Amex seem to verify addresses for Aussies.

Hope this helps.

Hi,
I've just ordered a new Sager NP8690 from XoticPC
But I am quite confused bout the payment, the only way to get price discount is by wire transfer and money order, while money order takes time to reach.. So I decided to pay by wire transfer, but I can't fill in the form of xotic pc's bank account, branch number, and SWIFT code..
Anyone can help me??

Since you're replying to this thread I'll assume you're Australian and currently in Australia.

XoticPC will give you two bank accounts. the first is their actual bank and the second is the intermediary bank. You will only need to use the intermediary bank if your bank can't transfer directly to XoticPC's bank in US funds. All of the main Aus banks can do this, however, so you shouldn't need the intermediary bank details at all.

You must organise the wire transfer through your bank. If you've never done it before, print out the information and take it with you. The bank teller should be able to help you. Expect to pay a fee to the bank for them to conduct the transfer (it'll be higher if you're not an account holder with the bank you've gone to). Apparently ANZ charge $24, but St George charged me $32.

Also US$20 was deducted from the funds I transferred (on arrival), so you may wish to prepare a backup funding source in case it happens to you.

Hope this helps.

Yep..
I'm currently in Melbourne for the university
So u mean after all I have to prepare around 45bucks for the transfer??
That really helps, I'll just wait for XoticPC to send me their banking details because they only send me an address along with the order confirmation for the money order but not the wire transfer..
Thanks:biggrin:

No wukkas...

XoticPC helpfully took my CC details after I transferred the cash. I don't know if their bank normally deducts $20 from incoming transactions, but they did in my case.

I had no idea XoticPC took money orders, I thought it was only wire transfers. Shows how much i know!

Hmm..
XoticPC sent me a new order confirmation this morning along with their banking details(and a postage cost change around nearly $100)..
But after a few Q&A with XoticPC and my local bank, finally I made my wire payment!!
Still waiting for the confirmation from XoticPC..

fyi, mine shipped from XoticPC within 3 business days of them receiving payment... it was flown out here in just over a day and now (unsurprisingly) there's been some kind of stuff-up and it's been delayed by UPS.

Ordering from Sydney. The delay was actually due to a failure with the plane. The package arrived this morning, much to my relief, all safe and sound and no signs of any UPS guys kicking it around either.

You must pay for it beforehand or the package will not be released for delivery. In other words, the courier won't knock on your door and ask for cash.

If you went with the UPS option there are a couple of possibilities:

1. They mail an invoice or phone you if they know your contact number. The invoice will have payment options, or you can pay over the phone with a credit card.
2. You can call them up and quote your tracking number. If the package is ready they'll ask for a credit card. If the package is not ready you can leave your contact number.

Thx Ed, another help for me!!
After all, all I need to do is preparing a CC with credits on it n wait for the invoice, right??
