Hello,
I recently did a clean install of Windows 7, and for my math class we have to use a crappy computer program to do ALL of our homework and such. Well I tried installing it on 7, and... It doesn't work. Is there any way I can use a program to run it inside of 7? Any suggestions at all? I have no other options...
Thanks

knowing little about the program you speak of I can offer only a few sugestions. try running the program using all of the avalible compatibility settings [ right click on the applications and go to properties, click on the compatibility tab and try your luck running it in each of the dropdown menu options]
depending on which version of windows 7 you are running, you could also try XP mode which will install a virtual xp machine on your computer and you could run it through that. I believe there is a free 3rd party virtual machine program called virtualBox that may work as well.
good luck

This would be your best bet! Good luck!

Agreed... this would have the most chance of success, however if he could run in compatibility mode, it would take far less time to set up, it would require less hard drive space and wouldn't require him to start up different program to run it...
if compatibility mode works, use it... if not there is always xp mode :)

So...
I tried all the compatibility modes and it didn't work. Then i tried installing XP mode from the microsoft website, and after it installs it gives me this error message saying it is "not a valid win32 program blah blah blah." Stuff. And i also tried Virtualbox, and I have to say it is way too complicated for me. I got totally lost, and deleted it before i messed something up. So i don't know what to do.

Hey,
So I just tried installing XP mode again using Internet Explorer, and it worked! Yay! I guess it didn't like it being installed as a Binary file with firefox. Thank you SO much for your help. I appreciate it. You saved me from failing my college math class...

I'm stoked to here it worked for you! Yay for the warm fuzzy feeling :p
chalk one up for Window 7 and its ability to use legacy software! IMHO Windows 7 is truely a solid OS!
