Hey, so I ordered my sager at the end of august and am very happy with it other than a few small issues.

My first issue is a stuttering with audio of any kind. Whether I am listening to music, or hearing it from a game, every so often it kinda skips. Now I believe this to be the sound card, as the the audio quality is pretty poor regardless of the speakers it goes through. I believe I ordered the upgraded internal card, but was sent an external one, and the stock is in my laptop. Is there anyway I could get the internal card, or put one in myself without voiding the warranty? This is a pretty big issue as I record a fair amount of music, and listen to it all the time.

My second problem is with the cd-drive which sounds like it's scratching the disc. I have to put pressure on that side of the notebook, for the drive to run smoothly. It also feels very loose and even when typing it moves making an annoying sound.

Also, in the future would I be able to upgrade the GTX 260 to a better card? Would I have to send the laptop to xoticpc and buy a compatible card through you guys? Would doing it independently void the warranty?

Thanks,
Frank

There was not an internal sound card upgrade offered.

I have heard the optical drive make more noise than some like.Is that what you are hearing? Or is yours worse I can't really say.

I believe Xotic and Sager can send you a GPU upgrade when offered. And I believe you can upgrade yourself and not void warranty. If you buy from another vendor It does not void your warranty but warranty on the GPU is thru vendor. There are other vendors like xotic and warranty should still be honored.

I know some have installed 280m in your model. Not sure if an approved upgrade or not.

Thanks for the info. I'm hoping to upgrade the GPU sometime in the future when laptop cards have substantially more memory than the 260 (how can I find out whether a model is approved or not?).

The stuttering is not the disc drive, it happens when playing saved audio files. It's probably fb2k as I only notice the skipping when listening to music by itself or with a game.

I tried a variety of discs last night and found that there are only a few discs that cause the scraping sound (like they're off balance and brushing the drive?). I tightened the screws in the drive which did not stop the scraping, but it did stop the movement while typing, and the drive now feels much sturdier.
