whats the difference between customs and brokerage fees

brokage fee is the fee the shipping company charges you for handleing all the paper work to get you item through customs (you can specifically tell the shipping company that you want to be you own broker...and then do all the paper work and red tape stuff your self but its alot of running around.)
customs fee is the tax the goverment charges you. Local tax isn't supposed to be charged for out of state/county. BUT to import a purchase you local goverment sales tax still applies. So for ontario I think I have to pay .07% tax on things that go through customs...
