Anyone else unable to alter their profile, add an avatar, etc.? My changes won't seem to take!

Just curious...

The size limits on the avatar are a pain in the butt. Use a photo editing program to get it to work correctly.

Yeah, I had that prob, too. It actually has to be 3. something KBs to work. :? Oh, and if you got too many chars in your siggie, and try to eliminate some, because it's complaining about it being too long, it won't reset the count properly even if you know you've taken enough chars back out, to be under the limit. All you can do at that point is, hit cancel and try again. Oh, and don't do siggie and avatar at the same time. :P

I'm getting that TV tuner card eventually. Maybe before I go on vacation this fall. I was going to get the XFi, but I wasn't sure how that worked, since the mote for the tuner is in that slot, no? Then again, I also wanted to see what the onboard sound sounded like first, since I'm not really a purist when it comes to audio... although, I do like my Bose earbuds for my iPod a LOT, and I got Companion 3s hooked to my PS2 to play DDR, so maybe I am, but I swear I'm not. Dang, I gotta save some more money. Cuz it ain't over until it's maxxed out.

BEAUTIFUL!

Here's my thinking on the sound card...I use headphones a lot, and the one wonky thing w/ headphones is how sometimes the connector melded to the motherboard goes bad with repeated plugging/unplugging...well, a sound card for $100 comes with a headphone jack as WELL as the ability to set up to 7.1 if you want, so when I use my phones, I plug into it INSTEAD of the lappy...i'd rather have to replace a $100 sound card than send a lappy back to have it fixed on the MOBO!

I hadn't even considered that. Definitely, gonna consider it in the future, since I use headphones a lot. But my current pair is USB (I use them to chat on TeamSpeak) and have the game sounds come over the speakers, which shoulldn't get unplugged all the time, unless I'm lugging the thing to a friend's house for some LAN action. And I'm gonna use an external hub for the USB, due to the location of the ports on the lappy, so those won't get unplugged all the time either....

...so where do you keep your mote?

ROFL!

That's it. As soon as that puppy's paid off (I'm in debt to my hubby's rainy day fund +10%APR, compounded monthly, ) I'm getting the rest of the goodies (minus the BD drive, unless they become reasonable in the meantime, and then I'd want a DL burner anyhoo)...

Hahahaha! It was either that or paying 29.99% with CIT group (the peeps who finance Dells and AWs), so we decided it's better to pay ourselves back and make our own loan. I'm really afraid he might take over the lappy once he's experiences the POWER! So, I better have it throttled when he plays with it, so he'll stick to the machine I've built him (but he doesn't know about it, he thinks he's getting my old one), well, he is getting my old one, but the only thing that's old on the inside is gonna be the MoBo (I'm sneaking in new components, and I have to try and intercept the UPS/FedEx guys b4 he finds out) LOL

Just a heads up to you two, don't update the GPU driver or you will be sorry. Stick with the older stock driver (unless you got the 59Hz refresh rate problem). The newer driver cuts performance in half. I'm waiting on the next release to see what this 8800M GTX can really do.

TNX OregonCoastGamer. Just to make sure I understand correctly, leave the driver Sager/Xotic installed alone, no update until after the 24th when we are in possession of 2nd 8800GTX, right?

Yes. The forceware version should be 167.43, not 167.44. SLI drivers will ofcourse be needed to run your 2x 8800M GTX and hopefully those will fix the last drivers issue.

i dunno if its just me but if i had it to do all over again, i would not have gotten the x-fi card. i woulda saved me 120.00. i mean it works, but to actually see a difference, i really dont. i plug the speakers in the front jack on the right or if i have the x-fi card in i plug it into the card, but i dont hear a difference in quality. could be just me though... and never plug in the x-fi card prior to turning on the pc. it will hang up the system. did to mine and numerous others on this site. im not knocking the card though. im sure it makes a difference, i just cant tell. laterz......

You really only need it if you are going to use 7.1 channel surround sound or any other configurations like it. I am just going to purchase a 5.1 channel headset with a built in audio decoder.

I'm seriously considering getting one, just for the simple fact that the plugs hanging off the front of my lappy bug the crap outta me now. But there seem to be some fairly decent BT speaker options coming available soon (well, not too soon... like October), so I probably just wait. Now hearing what you said, I'm a bit hesitant to spend another $60 on that card (found one that cheap on pricegrabber.com). I want a 2.0 set I can lug about in my Slappa bag. & I'm still kinda hung up on the Bose Companion 2s. I have the Companion 5s hanging off my DDR setup, and they rock the house! I just love Bose.... lol

the card works fine, just didnt impress me thats all. OCG told me that the real benefit from the card is optimized for a 7.1 set up. i aint luggin a 7.1 set up around to add to the already near 60 lbs worth of gizmos i commute to work with each day already. lol

Yeah. At least I'm not lugging my junk around EVERY day. I'd need a back brace after a while ;) I think I'm gonna get the Companion 2s, and some right angle female-to-female mini plugs so at least they're not sticking out the front by 1.5 inches.
