I intend to use this laptop for gaming, school and multimedia. I have two questions before actually ordering it:
1-What is that wierd icon that pops up whenever either the 160GB SSD hard disk or the 500GB 7200rpm one? It doesn't show on any of the other hard drives?
2- While we're on the subject, which would be recommended for performance/heat - 320GB 7200rpm, or 500GB 7200rpm?
Thank you, one and all.

The icon looks like a picture of a hard drive. It probably just means they haven't gotten around to changing the others to show the picture.
As for the perf/heat, both will perform the same due to the same spin speed, but the 500 may get slightly hotter due to the size. If you want more space go for the 500 though it won't be a big difference in heat I wouldn't think.

First part I don't know will look into. Second heat would not be an issue. Areal density is your friend. Get bigger?

Thank you both for the replies.
As for the HDD itself, I am trying to decide that with a 1 TB external stored on the side whether I actually require 500GB's... I download lots of stuff but usually keep them in cold storage...
And as for the icon, it's only there for Sager computers, no other brand shows that icon when I click on the harddisk. Only for Sager models and only on the designated selections (500GB 7200rpm and 160GB SSD)

If money is not the issue get the 500GB and short stroke it to improve performance. Short stroking is where you make a partition, most make it about 20% to 25% of HDD total space. So when you just use that partition it is all on the outer part of the disk which is faster.

So I should just go with the 500GB regardless?
And, how do I short-stroke it? Will it work just as well without short-stroking?
