Just wondering about some performance issues im having. Im looking at my results in 3dMark06 ranging from 9600-9950, and wondering what other people are getting, and what tweaks they are using.

BTW, notebook support with Xotic/Sager has been awesome, they helped me revert my setup from RAID 5 to RAID 0, it was pretty easy, and they were super helpful.

So, what tweaks/"hacks" are you using?

Setup

Q6600
4GB RAM
3x 80 GB HDD RAID 0
Geforce 8800M GTX
Vista Ultimate 64

If an Xotic Mod reads this, is there anything you guys could recommend for improving performance in Vista 64 environment? Should I give you guys a call?

THANKS IN ADVANCE!

My score was 10,048. Nothing tweaked, tons of processes, services, gadgets running & F@H. I didn't turn nothing off, since I don't see the point. I don't turn nothing off or kill a process before loading a game. I'm too lazy. So I bench it as I run it. No temp tweaks to boost the score. That's way too clinical for my tastes, heck, some may consider it cheating. :P

I agree. test is as you would use it, otherwise the benchmarks mean nothing.

I disagree. I have been benchmarking every gaming PC and lap top i have built (except for the laptops of course) since i built my first PC with a Cyrix 200 chip to play MechWarrior 2. I have tested all cards and PC's the same way, so for my testing all is valid. as most of you who have been around a while will remember, the old days when a 3Dmark 2001 score of 4000 was almost unheard of and we sat waiting for a video card to come out so we could see what "NATURE" actually looked like. Remember back then there was playable and there was pretty and kinda sorta playable sometimes.

Saying test it as you would use it, doesn't always fly. You may be able to play C&C or Battlefield Maxed out, but try a new game like Crysis? if you just forked out $50 for the game and it didn't run at playable rates what are you going to do, spend $1200 to upgrade or turn the settings down to play the game.

lol, i agree. for us hard core gamers out there, being able to get those xtra 100 or so points on a benchmark is a big thing...why else would ya spend 4-4.5k on a notebook?

yea sorry... my manager just did something really dumb

there is a difference between sharing a system's capabilities and pushing on beta drivers that only work for 30 seconds

if I'm going to share a benchmark I'd probably reboot and make sure nothing was going nuts in the background... which is also what I would do if I were competing in some serious pvp ;)

...and yeah, u r right. that would be the way to go to accurately get a solid benchmark. like someone else stated earlier, i too get lazy before running a benchmark and never close out non-critical processes. im sure i could prob get 10.5k or so if i did.

Guys im not disabling processes just AA and AF for base numbers. The system runs as it boots
