Excuse me if this has been answered elsewhere but I can only search for so long from my phone. My laptop turned off while I was on it with no prior warnings or beeps. Then when I went to reboot it would start to boot and then it would give me a long beep, then a long pause etc. Until it eventually turned back off. I let it sit for a while and the same thing. I also tried opening the bios and leaving it there thinking it was the harddrive but no luck. Does anyone know why this is happening?

sounds like a fried mobo, but could be the memory too. I'd give tech support a call they can walk you through some basic troubleshooting to find out for sure.

sorry to hear :(

(How far into the boot process did it get before the beeb/shutdown?)

I can make it all the way to the desktop before it shuts down. The other weird thing is sometimes it beeps multiple times and sometimes only once

hmmmm... if its getting to the desktop, then its not as likely to be the mobo/memory... could be overheating, Is the fan spinning up when you start the machine?

Not immediatly the fan is acting normal I also let it sit in a rather cold room(bad heating in my building) for an hour and it did the same thing

I got home from work and decided I would try pulling out the ram and putting it back and thankfully it worked :) thanks for all your advice
