I think it will in the Xotic video review they commented how it was very quiet. But no Firewire, express card or eSATA. If those are an issue.

Hey there.
The A1 comes with a Blu-Ray. The A2 does not.
That is the only difference as far as I know.
Blu-Ray drives are in fairly short supply thus two different models.

Most likely, unless you are doing some graphical work with massive files.
The cost increase to go from 8gb to 12gb will not be worth the performance boost you will see, which will be next to none.
8gb should cover anything you could possibly want to do and is one of the nice things about this laptop, that it comes with 8gb standard.

$495 for 4GB more is not worth it. I doubt anyone with a notebook needs 12GB. I think almost no one needs more than 4GB so 8GB should be plenty.

well it would be kinda sweet to have lots of ram tho.. just to have it.. hehe.
So if it doesn't make the laptop noisier ill go with the 16gb I think :)

Wow you've taken a $1700 notebook that will overall perform the same but jacked it up to $4900.
Maybe add some warranty and Xotic gear as long as money is no object.

okay now I feel really smart.. hehe. But Im sure it will be a little faster, right?

The performance increase you are going to see is minimal, especially for the cost increase you are paying.
Upgrade your ram to: 8,192MB (8GB) DDR3 1333MHz Dual Channel Memory (2GBx4)
Upgrade the CPU to: Intel® Core™ i7-820QM, going the next step up is not worth the cost increase for performance boost.
Going to the 820 increases not only speed but the amount of L3 Cache.
The solid state drives are a huge price increase also for the performance boost you are going to get over 2 7200 drives in raid 0.
Just the CPU and RAM difference will save you over $1000. Heck, if you got normal hard drives instead of solid state drives you could buy TWO of these almost just based on the money you are saving.

Magisk you just do not describe yourself as a power user. I would just get the 500GBx2 7200 in RAID 0. I would stick with the 1066Mhz RAM the actual bandwidth going to 1333Mhz will be minimal. Remember when they increase speed they increase latency. Real world I say 1066Mhz and 1333Mhz are the same.
On the 820QM, while I don't think it is needed I would say that is the one to do. Also I would just get BR reader tops.
But that is just me and I always need to squeeze performance out of a budget.

Ayep, overall the base configuration for this laptop is fantastic. Especially for the price.
I ordered it myself a few days ago, and the only change I made was to add a custom skinning job, turning on raid 0, and adding artic silver.

Thanks for the tips guys, ill change the ram to 8gb.
However ill keep the i7-920XM and the ssd.
Im sure it will go a little faster and if im not mistaken the ssd make less sound right?
Edit:
Btw ive seen a post where someone says xoticpc can change the paint. is that for real?
So if I want it in white they can do that?
