Ok have spent the last week going back and forth on a High end gaming laptop for under $3000, that will replace my desktop at home, and that I can take on the road with me in my RV. I also need it for school for my game programming degree, I am working on. I am more confused now then before I started looking lol.

If you want the absolute best gaming out now the Sager NP8120. It is 18.4" has i7 GTX285m SLI and can hold 3 HDD's. Not DX11. If that is too much size? Asus G73JH, 17" i7 HD5870m 2 HDD's has DX11. Those are my two choses. There is one other Sager but I just left it off. I made an executive decision the other two are better. With your needs and budget I do not see anyone making a case for others. But we shall see and that is part of the fun.

Good luck.

I'd have to agree on the Asus G73JH. The reason I lean towards that one only slightly more than the Sager (though there are things I like on the Sager better personally) is because taking into account the fact that you will be doing game programming DX11 will come up rather soon. So you'll want that ability.
(I'm sure we will see it in Sagers soon, but don't know when).

LOL I don't know why people think the Asus won't be great for graphic work...hell I'm going to be doing mainly 3D modeling on it due to it's GPU and RAM size...sigh

I do suspect you are correct since you say you know. The discussion was kind of short. I gave the best mobile GPU setup not really hard on my end. Going with the 9280 I know OP got far superior CPU. But the importance as I said I could not tell you.:)

Actually the 9280 is a nice machine, I just don't like the graphics card. Nvidia has really dropped the ball over the past couple years when it comes to 3D applications with their drivers. On another thread I quoted some stuff I found where basically ATI is better because it supports OpenCL and built on top of OpenCL while Nvidia has yet to get that far. Nvidia is still working on Cuda.
