matt this is the previous SRT-4. This looks exactly like mine. I lost my license for 3 years so I need to be careful this time. Turbo charged 285hp at the wheels front wheel drive is some serious hp on a a small car.

Only game that I've reached 80 on is BC2 with everything maxed. I run without AA and AF and it's in the 70's. I don't care much for AF and AA isn't needed at that high resolution.

I bought the SRT-4. Lots of power. I like the look I am getting old. Just a hatchback but balls to the wall. Kind of matches my G73. Power/performance mixed with budget. The honeymoon is full on at this time. Wait 6 months and see if I am the same.:D

got a new u3 17-19 inch laptop cooler today. alluminium with 3 fan

but the problem is, i dont think is working well :(.. cause asus g73 had small hole at the bottom of the laptop

i just check the price of asus g73 in malaysia market, it will cost rm9.999

which is usd 3333 .... when i got my cooler today i tried it on my laptop, there said holly shit what is that, never seen this here before :).
well i'm proud to own one of this laptop here in malaysia hahahah

i removed the back cover and put a fan facing my laptop. well it reduce 10c :notworthy

i dont think the asus g73 is sucking air from the keyboard, cause the keyboard had no air hold on it, check the video i post below

Anyway enough about the topic. My SRT has a refrigerator? It has an AC plug/outlet. OK the AC is 150w with out a ground. it is not working. It also has the cigarette lighter.

I need to go to car forums. The onboard computer will do 1/4 mile time with the end trap, 0-60, G-force. I see why I got in trouble with my last. This stuff rocks. Only thing is no reset button.

Air is pulled from the bottom mostly wherever the slits are, that's where air will go into the laptop. try furmark extreme burning mode 1920x1080 and see what temps you get, if it goes above 100C then you should consider repasting. the cheap factory paste they applied to the gpu's in these degrades fast and your temps will only go up.

I don't use a cooler and mine goes to 80C max when playing mw2 max settings. Mafia II is the same.

What do you phone experts think? What should I know?

One sad thing is my Sprint mobile hot spot that I use to connect to you guys. This phone does it I think. So I am thinking of canceling my contract and paying the $200 fee.

For $70 a month it seems it covers my phone and 4G Internet connections. Which I currently pay $120 a month plus taxes. With this $70 plus taxes. I also get GPS, acts like a iPod, and like a hand held notebook. It shows the Internet just like my notebook. Has TV and movie capabilities.

Anyone know this kind of stuff and have thoughts? I know zero about mobile phones. I have 30 days to switch.

What kind of data limits did you have with the hotspot? I know when doing the phone tethering "unlimited" means no more than 5 GB per month. It might have dropped in fact, I know AT&T was going to start doing a tiered system. Not sure if Verizon and Sprint have followed.

Guess it would depend on how you use your internet. Do you have another connection for home or would you be using the phone hotspot for everything? I couldn't do that just because I download a ton of stuff at home.

It sounds like Verizon is getting a phone that is similar to the EVO next Summer so looks like I'm using my Storm until then. Samsung Fascinate and Droid X had me debating updating now but I don't want to use those for the next two years. Rather just wait for a phone that will take advantage of Verizon's new network.

i have the EVO. love it.
i don't pay extra for the hotspot..its 30 bucks a month extra for the hotspot to work on the EVO or Epic. i am still waiting for 4g to come to cincy.

the epic is nice and a keeper. you should talk to sprint and see if they may waive the fee since you have the epic..

and its unlimited data on 4G for now...

Well I just got back home on the 18th, and as expected I received a package notice from the post office, dated back July 13, but when I checked with my post office, the staff said that they have already returned my G73JH back to Xotic PC, normally they wouldn't keep a package at the post office for that long. I've already sent an email to the sales department, no reply as yet.

So is it possible to ask Xotic PC to resend my order again? Do I have to pay extra mailing expense for that?

I guess it depends on whether you informed Xotic you would be gone and to hold the order. If you weren't able to give them notice then it is probably on you to pay for shipping it back.

I've been playing some console games for the time being. Bought Halo Reach, already beat it. Debating whether I want to buy Castlevania: Lords of Shadow. It received decent reviews and I was excited by it but I feel I need to lower the amount of money I'm spending at the moment. Plus I still have a crap ton of other games I could finish including God of War III which is pretty much the same thing.

I want an EVO type phone so bad. Droid X is close for Verizon but still missing a couple of key features. Thankfully I saw a report saying there is a tech show in January where it is expected that Verizon will start to show off its new 4G smartphones. Looking forward to seeing what they announce.

All right no one talking? I hear if I remove my catalytic converter it will improve air-flow/breathing. So if I do it will make the CAI and any future exhaust perform better.

I must be honest the SRT-4 kicks butt. It has too much power. OK maybe a Porsche or Ferrari could crush it. But all in all it has enough power to make most a driver issue.

So remove the catalytic converter get new exhaust, go stage 1 turbo. 350+ HP. Sick. I forget what the equation is but if you divide the weight by HP and get like above 1 it is a super car.

I can tell you guys this is way fast. Maybe faster than I need.

So brought the laptop with me this weekend. I still love it but now I know what everyone was talking about with the trackpad. It's functional but damn was it a pain in the ass at times. Constantly kept resizing my web pages because it would interpret my movements as zoom in/out. Was very annoying at times. A shame that such a great laptop has such a crappy trackpad.

Yes, after several months of waiting, missed package and asked Xotic PC to resend it again, paid some pretty hefty and rather outrageously expensive import taxes, I am happy to say that I am a proud owner of a G73JH(A2), The screen and picture quality, the speed, are just awesome.

i dont think any gtx400 series M series could support mafia 2 with physX on

Oh please disregard my previous post, I just updated the G73 BIOS files and rebooted as one of the Tech Support forum post instructed, that crash problem is now no more, heh heh I'm really happy now. gonna try this thing with Dead Rising 2.

there is actually a setting at battery option(control) on the asus g73 to max out your gpu and cpu performance.......i think thats why my laptop is running that hot

Thanks, Jeff! Recovery seems straightforward. I hope my laptop is coming with recovery discs. It's pretty stupid Asus is no longer including them with their laptops. At the least, they should image a hidden partition with all the necessary recovery data. This is something Toshiba is now doing with their Qosmio line, entering recovery is as simple as holding the "0" key on boot.

Surprisingly, I've found that most of the programs that come with my Asus are very useful. Not all, of course. I removed the games from it and some useless utilities, but left most of them. I like the blu-ray disc suite, the control deck, smart logon, FancyStart, and splendid utility. I removed trend micro and replaced that with avast! Other than those there are utilities for the camera, hardware monitors, and so forth.

Ok, dumb question since I just got it last night, and haven't fully investigated. Does the Recovery partition show up in Windows? I only saw the two drives listed. I burned the 5 DVDs to recover from, and by the time it finished, I had to get ready for bed. I'll spend more time with it tonight, but wasn't sure if I got a system with no recovery partition, or if it's just hidden.

I am having a bit of problem running 3DMark06, it keeps telling me there's an "OpenAL.dll" error, even though I installed the latest version of 3DMark06, what seems to be the problem? That being said I didn't experienced any problem running 3DMark Vantage, so I presume that has very little to do with the hardwares?

I am using Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit OS.


EDIT: I figured out what was the problem, just change the installation folder to "Program Files" instead of the "Program Files (x86)" folder that the OS originally assaigned to you and it will run fine.

Well I randomly decided to start WoW again, figured I might as well check out the changes in Cataclysm. My G73JH is rocking that game. Max settings and buttery smooth everywhere I go. Far cry from back in the day where I had to run at minimum and I still did some lagging in cities and BGs.

I have read about what you speak of and basically both you mention fall short of the bandwidth as defined by the organization you reference. T-Mobile clearly just is tweaking 3G with HSPA+ and calling 4G. Arguments can be made on all sides. Dictators of standards do not always win. Keep that in mind. Clearwire/Sprint and Verizon LTE have legitimate arguments as to being 4G, built from the ground up. T-Mobile less so. But the standards community will never win with a "nan a nan a boo boo" attitude. OK fine 4g does not exist? Leaves us where?

I get the points, I can understand them. But I question the validity of that organization. Only in so far as recognition of their standards. It can't even be decided what a GB is? Yea I know a GiB but whatever. Is bloatware stuff that takes HDD space or active crap you do not want?

T-Mobiles 4G claim is more dubious but since none meet the "official" standard not so sure how much it matters. Bandwidth is king, give it to us.

amazingly my HDD is fine, and of course my SSD is fine. my old dell dropped a few times, and i went through 3 HDDs...so i am impressed that the HDD came away unscathed from a 3 foot drop onto hardwood floor. very impressed with ASUS's build quality, now.

verizon is so locked up with motorola for now, for android phones, but they should be getting the HTC Merge(will be on par with Sprint's EVO) and a HTC win7 phone later in 2011. the droid x is their best phone at the moment...droid 2 is right behind it.

I am rather happy with sprint and my EVO, verizon networks may take a huge hit if they do in fact get an iphone, unless they are preparing for it, otherwise I would bet good money their networks will take a beating with everyone switching over. but its all rumors and speculation.

They filmed some scenes for the film "Contagion (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Contagion_(film))" directly across the street from my work. In the sleepy little village of Wilmette IL. 2nd suburb north of Chicago along the lake. The gateway to the North Shore.

The Film has Matt Damon, Kate Winslet, Jude Law, Gwnyeth Paltrow, Marion Cotillard and Laurance Fishburne.

Not a cheap cast. Marion Cotillard is one I don't know but gets the highest rank on the pp hottie index. Only one I saw was Matt Damon and maybe the director. I started walking toward Damon and a bodyguard basically gave me the hand signal to stop about 40' away. I did, then he went in a vehicle and left. I have film but so far away not sure if it can be discerned.

The place they shot at called my company after the shoot about doing some work so I went over and gave an estimate. I asked a few questions about where they shot. Not very exciting but for me broke up the monotony for a day.

When they shot Oceans 12 with the same director I got to meet Julia Roberts and George Clooney on the last day of shooting on the outside set. Got photos and autographs. This time crap.

So that's my story and I'm sticking to it.

As far as I can tell, the G73jh has been all but discontinued. They have alot if OTHER models based on the same design and frame. They look identical to the JH, but have different cpu's and gpu's as well.
Why are you asking about the JH model anyway. The newer ones "seems" to be better?

G73JH is old and basically obsolete.

The G73SW is the one containing the 2nd-Gen i7.

So the SW is the more 'future' made model compared to the JH.

I think you have the two models mixed up. You want to purchase the SW, not the JH.

Not exactly acheronx. He is confused yes. I think he is making up his own model. I think he wants a SH which sound like 2nd gen i7 and 5870. Problem is it is not being made.

It would be cool if they did but I don't think it is going to happen I think the 5870 and G73 is over.

As far as I know, the JH does not have the 2nd Gen compatibility. Only the SW has the 2nd gen so far.

It looks like an old page got that one part recoded. Notice the other CPU options are last gen? $579 to get 840QM, $1109 for 940XM? The 2630QM beats both.

The SW is a sure hit for performance, quality and overall "cool" look.

It may be a bit more expensive (it does have the 2nd Gen CPU) but it's worth it if you plan on going to a gaming laptop.

Asus all the way. Unless you buy alienware, (which I highly suggest you don't) most mainstream manufacturers today really don't produce high performance machines for gaming.
