View Full Version : Xotic Staff Appreciation Thread

I'm a new shopper to both the world of Laptops, and the world of XoticPC. I was actually referenced to XoticPC from a gamer-friend of mine, who had recently purchased a laptop of his own from their website. So, after seeing that they had the ASUS G73 line of laptops for pre-order, I decided "what the heck" and ordered one.

Unfortunately (to no fault on Xotic's part) the item has been in constant limbo for a couple months, but despite this failure on ASUS's part, Xotic has been simply wonderful about the whole ordeal.

I've worked in retail in the past, and I know how nasty customers can be; indeed, even I have caught myself being that "nasty" customer from time to time. We all want our stuff, especially when we pay top dollar for a sweet gaming laptop. But every time I've contacted Xotic, whether I was "perfectly patient Fr0st" or "angry, crazy Fr0st", Xotic's staff has always responded in a timely, polite, informative and truthful manner.

Customer service is typically a thankless job, as most people only feel compelled to say something when something goes wrong. Despite the whole pre-order debacle (which is the fault of Asus, not Xotic), XoticPC has been a phenomenal dealer all around to deal with: GREAT customer support, GREAT prices, GREAT forum community.. An all around enjoyable experience, which is becoming harder and harder to come by online these days.

So I just figured we could take some time out of our day ranting/raving about when our laptops will arrive etc., and appreciate the people who've put in so much hard work and dedication into taking our orders, answering our questions (via phone, chat, forums, email..), assembling our rigs and shipping them on their way. So, thank you to everyone at XoticPC!

I'm also new to Xotic but would like to make a couple of points.

First, good customer service is not something you should fall over yourself to give thanks. You should expect good customer service and be disappointed when you do not receive it.

Second, Xotic has not been "simply wonderful." I had to wait extensively every time I tried to get in contact with them. In the chat where I ended up canceling my order, I was told that responses would be delayed because he was dealing with "so many people." And they were. Xotic could provide no reasonable eta or even give me an idea of where I was in line. Many other companies (including the one I ended up receiving my laptop from) provided much more responsive customer service.

Asus has done a bad job in rolling out this product. But Xotic has done a very poor job of handling their customers as well.

You've had to wait extensively? Interesting. I've only had to wait a couple hours to hear back from them via email during the work week, and I've always been able to get in touch via the site's chat (again, during the work week). Were you contacting them on the weekends? I believe they only work Monday-Friday, as does just about any business.

You've obviously never worked in customer service - I was not "falling over myself to give thanks", I was simply giving thanks where it was needed. Like I said in my post, it's often a thankless job; they've done a great job taking care of me thus far, so why not give thanks where thanks are due?

I'm not going to argue opinions since you're entitled to your own, but from my own experience thus far Xotic has been a much more pleasant experience than the majority of online dealers I've purchased electronics from (both big and small).

I contacted them on a weekday. After I heard about another company with Asus G73 in stock, I called Xotic. Was on hold on the phone for about an hour, so I hung up and got in the online queue. Was in there for the entire time I placed my order with the other company, researched my SSD, bought my SSD and then some. By the time the extremely slow chat took place (at which point I was told, in response to where I might roughly be in line having order February 3rd, that "we started taking orders in December if that helps") I had about enough. See UMI's post recently where he sent them a detailed email and they responded 3 days later with a form email.

Yes, I have worked in customer service. I prided myself on having a good attitude and prompt responses. My job now entails a good bit of customer service - if I treated my clients like Xotic does theirs, I would not have a job.

I mostly take issue with the assertion that the problem is solely with Asus. Asus didn't do a great job here, but neither did Xotic. Their communication and responses were not markers of great customer service.

As I stated in an earlier post on another thread, XoticPC is in the worst possible position; they represent a company on a different CONTINENT, for krissakes, one who doesn't much care one way or another about li'l ol' XoticPC. They're a worldwide manufacturer/dealership, true, but they're also first and foremost an ASIAN manufacturer/dealer, and THAT'S where their primary interests lie. They no more care about XoticPC's difficult position than YOU GUYS do. I've had some direct dealings with ASUS, and if you think that XoticPC is unresponsive, just go ahead and give ASUS a try !! You wanna see no response? Go ahead. I've been chasing them since January first for more detailed info, without so much as an acknowledgement. Not the first time I've received this treatment at their hands. "Round-eye" ain't that important to them.

And then there's the flip side; you snotty, self-centered, spoiled-rotten Westerners; me me me; my, my, my; now, now, now; wah, wah, wah !!! You guys represent everything about Americans that most of the rest of the world hates. Try growing up. You PRE-ORDERED a product that was just going into production; that means a LONG WAIT. Period. XoticPC can NOT give you information they don't have (they could, but then that would be called DISinformation, or smoke and mirrors, or smoke-curing you from the inside out, or just plain lying; is that what you want?). Your place in the queue CANNOT be accurately predicted if XoticPC doesn't know how many units are being shipped, how many of those units are A1's or A2's, or WHEN the units will be shipped. Additionally, they would have to pull all the orders that MIGHT be in the first wave of prep/ships, look at the different levels of custom orders, and somehow put all that together to give you a date. Which you would then crucify them for should they not deliver "when they promised!"

And there's XoticPC, stuck firmly in the middle; uncaring, unresponsive ASUS above, and you mob below, and no relief in sight. If I were XoticPC, I'd tell half you a-holes to go to hell, and move up the folks who are so patiently waiting, and NOT BITCHING about their lack of instant gratification.

You guys make me sick, and I mean REALLY. Your old man should've kicked your narrow little asses more often while you were growing up; maybe you wouldn't be the half-men you are today.

I placed my order; I'm prepared to wait as long as needed for my order to be filled. These people are working as fast as they can, and providing all the HARD information they have, which usually ain't much. Anybody in the customer service business knows better than to speculate within earshot of the customer, or make provisional promises; these ALWAYS backfire and bite the issuer. THAT'S why you ain't getting the answers you want to hear. Again, just grow up, and let these people do their jobs. You ever get anything done any faster when somebody was jiggling your elbow and asking, "you done yet? you done yet? you done yet?" ??

And no, you're right, good customer service ISN"T something you should get excited over, and you SHOULD expect it from people who are being paid to provide just that. Been out of your house any time, recently? It's a rare commodity, these days, and that's a fact. Therefore good customer service deserves acknowledgement when encountered

Most of you guys are being pretty damned cool about these delays, and taking it with good humor; some others of you have even gone so far as to actively put effort into trying to improve the lot of us all (UntilMoraleImproves, FrOst here, others in smaller ways...) for that you have my respect. But some of you.... sheesh. I've seen better behavior from toddlers.

Rant over. I don't have ANY hope that this'll do any good; I just cant STAND all the immature whining for another second, so I'm having my say. Choke on it.

SingleShot71, UntilMoraleImproves, and Most of you guys (I thought you knew who you were....)

My public apologies for loosing that too-generalized blast. Upon re-reading it for the twentieth time or so, I realize that I left out the most important part; that most of you are taking these frustrating delays with grace, humor, and even style! I really lost patience with a few folks here, and vented all too publicly. I've got a slow fuse, really, but when it goes.....

Well... again my apologies for offending those that I had absolutely no intention of offending. Problem with email; once you hit send, it's too late to reconsider. I really oughtta learn that particular lesson.

I don't retract any of it; I merely regret that I wasn't eloquent enough to make clear exactly who WAS being targeted, and who was NOT!! My bad, and I'll take the heat for it.

No further postings until the will of the Forum is clear.

I see no need to apologize! That guy is off base and I don't believe he has read any our post, just ranting!
If anyone was offended by your remarks is because they choose to be!
I do believe it need to be said from time to time!
Xoticpc is doing the best they can, and so are we! :wink2:

Where matters of the heart are concerned, perhaps one might consider the following questions. Why all the continued ranting and raving? Is it really going to change anything? Does any one really care what I think? If your really that unhappy maybe all of the habitual complainers could pool all your money together and charter a private plane and run it into an abandoned building. Maybe that will get someones attention and you'll all feel much better. Likewise, a few more spaces in the waiting list would be cleared up. Have a nice day? :smile2::smile2:

I frankly love Xotic PC's customer service. They've been nothing but helpful. I've asked Joseph most of the time but I had Justin once and both were great.
I look forward to the day they start selling desktops as well and I hope someday they end up supplying them to Dreamworks, Paramount and so on.
Heck maybe Soderbergh could encode video guerilla style with a 900F and a Red One on the go. I mean wouldn't that be bitching if it could handle encoding 4K off a RED ONE?

Just wanna say thanks (again) to XoticPC for wonderful service and making my first customised gaming laptop purchase something to remember (and to repeat once I've saved up and decide that it's time to replace this laptop of mine :D

Thanks to the Justins! *and Joseph!

Damn, I forgot about this thread but same for me as well. Always answered any questions I had quickly and everyone I dealt with was nice and professional.

In a few years when it is time to replace I also plan on coming here for that purchase. Heck I hope you guys will indeed start doing desktops again because I might buy one of those sooner rather than later.

Xotic has my future business and recommendations when it comes to notebooks and computers you can't get at the big box retailers. Justin was more than helpful when I was asking questions about the differences between the Asus and Sager models last autumn. I will be back when it is time to buy/upgrade again. Hope you do start doing desktops as I would really like to see come competition against the big guys out there who don't seem to know what they are doing!!!

Just kidding.;) When I get my check from Nigeria I am buying Xotic 100%!

Well now that i've had my pc for a week with 0 problems (so far) I think it's safe to say I'm completely satisfied with Xotic. The only bad thing about ordering from them was that I ordered the G73 which had THE LONGEST WAIT EVER (for me) for a computer!

Great job guys, keep up the good work and I'll be back in a few years for another:laugh:

I had the pleasure of having Joseph Lee as my XoticPC sales person. He was knowledgeable, reassuring, and went out of his way to make sure I had teh product "I" needed and not based on marketing factors (like coolest machine, namebrand alone, etc). He took into account what the machine was to be used for and my budget. Answered any "stupid" questions i had and helped me to make one of the best purchases of my life. The machine is AMAZING. Thank you XoticPC and especially thatnk you Joseph Lee.
