I've had my NP8120 for about a week now. It performs very well but I'm crashing to desktop a lot while playing Left for Dead 2 and when playing Bad Company 2 I'm getting all sorts of weird video issues with words on the screen writing over each other, huge screen tearing, etc. I've installed the latest NVidia drivers from xoticpc. I'm running Windows 7 x64. Any suggestions?

yea get better drivers like these (http://forums.laptopvideo2go.com/topic/26353-v19715-windows-7vista-64bit-nvidia-desktop/) and see if it helps.

If it doesn't check your temps and make sure that the GPU is not getting hot.

Also make sure you have the latest PhysX drivers too.

Thanks for the link. Those drivers don't seem to work for my 285M though.

did you use the modified inf supplied in that same link by unzipping the drivers and then pasting the modified inf into the folder where the drivers unzip?

As you may (or may not) know by looking at my avatar, I work for the company that officially beta tested Battlefield: Bad Company 2. I can tell you that EA has made several changes from the beta (that was pretty stable) and the final retail release of the game which has left MANY issues for PC gamers, one of which is BSOD and CTD's.

The patch they was going to release was delayed due to their HDD in their patch build machine died and they didn't have it backed up, so it might be a few more weeks before they release their first patch for the game.

I cannot comment on Left 4 Dead but I wouldn't use BC2 as a mark for machine stability. Being a PC game tester for the past 5 years what I would suggest is to check video drivers via Nvidia and locate the newest (possibly even a beta) driver to use. Sadly, Nvidia has also recently had a screw up with the last drivers they release, they would randomly shut off video card fans so they pulled the drivers and told everyone to revert. So there may not be a new or new beta driver to download as of now.

Bad Company 2 works like a champ now that I installed those drivers with the .inf modified. LFD2 seems good now too though haven't tested it that long yet. Thanks very much for the help.

To answer your question, no I didn't use the mod inf before, but once I did it installed fine. Now BFBC2 and LFD2 both work great. Thanks very much for the help.

Sorry to bring up old threads, tried these drivers to see if it would fix my system stutter issue, but still no success, my whole system will randomly pause for several seconds then will continue as if nothing happened, it can happen anywhere from every 2 minutes to every 20. I've tried everything I know, anyone else got any ideas?
Thanks is advance.

Does the stutter happen during specific apps, gaming or just internet use and such?

It happens anywhere, any time, any program, tweaking SLI, physx, and power management has made no tangible change, that why I'm so stumped. Please tell me you have an idea.

Can you open your task manager and watch for cpu usage spikes and see if you have those when the stuttering occurs?

Its not doing it at the moment so it might take a while to check it out, you did just make me feel like a douche though, I've got no idea why I excluded the cpu from my investigations.
