Square just released the Final Fantasy XIV Benchmark yesterday.

http://www.finalfantasyxiv.com/media/benchmark/na/index.html

I'm currently running the Sager 8690 with the following specs:
i7 720qm 1.6~2.8 GHZ
4 GB PC-1333 DD3 Memory
NVidia GTX 280M
Intel SSD 160 GB

My scores:
High Res (1920x1080): 1513
Low Res (1280x720): 2543

What I am looking to see, is if anyone has a similar base model to mine with perhaps the 285GTX or the 5870 video card offerings. Or perhaps the 820qm instead of the 720qm and what your differences were to mine.

Also would be interested in perhaps some safe stock overclocking, if safe, to boost my framerate if anyone has any tips.

i7 820QM, 5870MR, 8690.
High Res: 2035
Low Res: 3659

Very CPU dependent for low res.

Yeah it looked fluid, I had a little slowdown, but will have to wait and hope for an alpha/beta invite to really get a feel for it. I'm debating if it would be worthwhile trying to upgrade the processor/video beforehand, or if I should just get a couple cheap cards and throw them in my desktop which is SLI capable.

Why do you think it isn't running right? Your scoring above the 5870M on a desktop card, the CPU is not going to make a huge difference here. Look at the difference in scores between the 720 and the 820 in this thread, maybe 10% if even that. Not a huge change.

On high res you score about 30-40% higher than my 5870M, which is about what I would expect.

the reason i belive that is im seeing people runing it better on windows xp then windows 7 or vista so its not opt for windows 7 atm and the game runs better with nivida atm more then ati. the other thing is that my friend scored the same thing 3783 on high and 3797 on low runing windows 7 with the 5850 video card but he has a quad core system. so im not saying that it doesnt give u the right idea. im just saying that its not opt. for windows 7 or all the video cards. even sli and cross/fire

You are correct. It is not optimized for SLI or CrossFire at this time. However, there is a workaround (until ATI/Nvidia optimizes drivers for it). I've heard that if you rename the benchmark file inside to 3dmark06.exe, Nvidia/Catalyst control panels will optimize for that program and utilize the extra card etc.
