Hey everyone,

Going to start another what laptop should I get thread - I'm looking for a new laptop that I will be using for work as well as some gaming on the side. I have been using a Mac for the past 4 years but the high prices are driving me to make the switch back to PC

General Questions

1) What is your budget?

$1,400 max

2) What size notebook would you prefer?Between 15 - 17
c. Mainstream; 15" - 16" screen
d. Desktop Replacement; 17"+ screen
3) What country are you buying this in?

US

4) Are there any brands that you prefer or any you really don't like?

Not really

5) What tasks will you be performing with the notebook?

Work (software testing, I use a lot of images) as well as gaming, some music recording/editing with Pro Tools, Photoshop

6) Will you be taking the notebook with you to different places or leaving it on your desk?

Most of the time I will be using it at my desk

7) Will you be playing games on it; if so, which games?

Yes,

HL2, SC2, Just Cause 2, Mass Effect 1-2, Crysis, (doesn't have to run perfectly at high settings) COD, Bad Company 2

8) How many hours of battery life do you need?

Would prefer up to 2 hours, but I know I probably won't get that

9) Do you mind buying online without seeing the notebook in person?

Nope

10) What OS do you prefer? (more details below) -Windows 7 (any version) 64 bit

11) From the choices below, what screen resolutions would you prefer? (more details below) No preference, I will not be watching any HD movies so a HD screen is not needed

12) Do you want a glossy/reflective screen or a matte/non glossy screen?

Would prefer a matte/non glossy screen but is not a deal breaker

Build Quality and Design

13) Are the notebook's looks and stylishness important to you?

Nope

14) When are you buying this laptop and how long do you want this laptop to last?

Buying between now and Christmas and would want it to last around 4 years

Notebook Components

15) How much hard drive space do you want; 80GB, 160GB, 250GB, 320GB, 500GB, 1TB, or 1.5TB?

320GB at the least

16) Do you need an optical drive? If yes, a CDRW/DVD-ROM, CD/DVD Burner or Blu-Ray drive?

17) What speed CPU/Processor would you like? Dual core or Quad Core CPU?

Either i5 or i7

I suggest the Sager NP8690 (love your own) or the ASUS N73JQ-A1. These seem to fit your budget and needs.
