On the NBR forums, there's a discussion on this. There are no definite answers but there are two, as I would say, emerging premises.

The components premise:
There was a statement from Sager that the sticker was there to distribute air more efficiently to the other components of the laptop (memory, HDD, etc) as a "low cost engineering solution".

The marketing premise:
The sticker was there as a means of product differentiation between the NP8760 and the NP8690 in terms of heating. It was put there to make the NP8760 "look good"/"have superior cooling capabilities" compared to the NP8690.

If you ask me, the marketing premise seems to make more sense. I guess we'll never know ... or will we? :D
