Hi
I'm looking to buy a G73, but sometimes I here theres no probelms, then I hear theres many. I just want to get it straight from the users.
If you have a G73, will you please tell me: how long you had it, if you had any probelms. and what you think about it.
Please help me out with this, it is a very confusing issue, and its very difficult to straighten out by just looking it up on the web (which I have tried to do for about 2 weeks now, to find a straight answer)
Thank you for helping me out!

One more thing to consider: G73jw, a new version of G73 product line, will be released in a month or two(from what i've heard. Late September to early October.) I'm not sure if 460M will outperform HD5870, but it has USB 3.0 ports and some other extra features you might want to look into.

Really, excellent thanks you, two things though
Do you have a link so I can look at it
And also, idk about buying that, because you kinda don't wanna be the ginnea pig of a new product, if you know what I'm saying, because like, if its crap, then I just wasted 1500 dollars
Thank you for bringing this to my attention though

Some have problems, some don't. Most issues are user caused except the PSOD which there is no confirmed reason for. It requires a RMA. The 460M will not out perform the 5870 and I believe it uses more power as well so it is overall a bad deal. USB 3.0 isn't going to be prevalent within the near future by most estimates. I'll give you a run down on the problems the G73 has had: 1.PSOD-Requires a RMA, supposedly due to a bad batch of screens. 2.GSOD Caused by changing the video drivers from what it comes with due to a non-standard MXM slot. 3. If you play games on Steam you have to install different audio drivers. 4. If you do not update the BIOS correctly you can brick your computer. Thats all that comes to mind right now.

Yep, the creative drivers that it uses to drive the built in subwoofer cause steam to lock up. So if you want to use steam you have to use the realtek drivers which mean you lose the ability to use the subwoofer (some say it still works, you just can't tell).

Thats a little drastic. There are alternatives, and I doubt you would even notice the difference.

Details in my signature but bottom line? Well worth it! (that's not to say that it is the last computer I'll ever buy, but it definitely does what I wanted it to do)

I like my box aside from 3 blue screens, which I'm waiting on support for help.

Welcome back, we've made progress since you've been gone. The fact that is that you can't use current drivers. There is supposed vbios flash coming out that should help, but it isn't official yet. The G73 still has issues that people should know about before purchasing.

Actually, that is a fix from ASUS so it will be supported and that will be official in a week or two after they make a noob installer :)
Playing on with 10.8...
